Santana Arriving at the twilight of the 1960s, Santana were psychedelic pioneers who ushered Latin rock into the mainstream with their first three albums: Santana, Abraxas, and Santana III. Thanks to their appearance at Woodstock, their eponymous album was a smash hit right out of the gate, with its single "Evil Ways" making it into the Billboard Top Ten in 1969. They remained at the top of the charts until 1973, when leader and namesake guitarist Carlos Santana began exploring esoteric, spiritual jazz fusion on his own. Carlos may have wandered away from the band who shared his name, but he always returned to the group, sustaining them through years both productive and fallow.

Delivered with a level of passion and soul equal to the legendary sonic charge of his guitar, the sound of Carlos Santana is one of the world's best-known musical signatures. "Caravanseari" is Santana's fourth studio album that was originally released in 1972. The album was number 8 on the 1972 Billboard 200 chart and number 6 on the R&B albums chart. "Caravanseari" differed from the guitarist's previous albums, incorporating more jazz and rock influences as opposed to his distinctive salsa, rock and jazz fusion.

Santana American latin-rock group, formed in the late 1960s, led by guitarist Carlos Santana. They first came to a wider public attention after their performance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969. This initial exposure made their first eponymous self-titled album a hit at the time, followed by the next two releases "Abraxas" (1970) and "Santana III" (1971) all with Columbia, the first record company that signed the band."Caravanserai" from 1972 marked the start of a new, more Jazz oriented chapter in Santana's career, as the band now moved away from rock and towards a more experimental and complex sound. "Welcome" from 1973 and the 1974 "Borboletta" and "Lotus" releases (the latter a triple live album) are most remarkable from that period.
