The Great Wall (2016)

"On this concert film we have tried to cover a good selection from Pink Floyd's oeuvre, performed with our newly redesigned light show. However there's so much that Pink Floyd wrote and many of their songs are simply so long that we can only present a selection of their total output. We hope that our choice includes much of their very best work..

The concert was filmed progressively over entire 'Best of the Best' tour in the spring of 2016 in Germany but the bulk of the material was filmed in the last week of the tour, playing in many great venues including the famous Festhalle in Frankfurt

One of Heavy Paradise's favorite bands is without any doubt NIVA. Tony Niva (Lion's Share) is back with a brand record with the title "Atmospherical". For me, Niva is one of today's best shouter out there with a vocal range that covers from AOR to Melodic Metal and"Magnitude", that was released in 2014. was and still is a damn fine piece of Melodic Hard Rock heaven and it's among my personal favorite albums over the last decade.

Few if any artists of the girl group era were as iconic as Ronnie Spector. As the lead singer of the Ronettes, Ronnie was the crown jewel of Phil Spector's Wall of Sound (and also his wife for a while). But as iconic sounds of the '60s go, Ronnie and her peers had to play second fiddle to the Beatles and the many other British groups who invaded America in their wake. As it happens, Ronnie was a fan of the British Invasion bands just like the rest of us. What's more, she shared stages with the Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds, and the Kinks when the Ronettes toured the U.K. back in the day. So it makes sense that Ronnie would look back at this era by recording an album of classic tunes by great British acts of the '60s.

As the mysterious opening bars of the Kyrie gradually emerge into the light, we know that this recording of Mozart’s glorious Great Mass in C minor is a special one: the tempi perfect, the unfolding drama of the choral writing so carefully judged, and, above it all, the crystalline beauty of soloist Carolyn Sampson’s soprano, floating like a ministering angel. Masaaki Suzuki’s meticulous attention to detail, so rewarding in his remarkable Bach recordings, shines throughout this disc, the playing alert, the choir responsive, the soloists thrilling. And there is the bonus of an exhilarating Exsultate, Jubilate with Sampson on top form.
