A broadcast of the very first of Frank Zappa s famed Halloween gigs from New York's Palladium Theater (a yearly ritual for Zappa until he stopped performing), this show demonstrates just how important Frank Zappa had become as one of rock's most enduring innovators. It also demonstrates Zappa's kooky and sardonic sense of humor. After introducing his band, and telling the audience that the show was being broadcast, they launch into San Ber'Dino, a song about a modern rodeo cowboy who falls on hard times. Singing lines like: There's 41 men and only one shower in tank C, but it doesn't apply to Bobby…, it confirms how Zappa knew how to make great music and have fun doing it. Performed while promoting his Zoot Allures album, Frank had taken to the road with a band that can only be regarded as an all-star line up. Nearly every musician who had a tenure with Zappa went on to remarkable musical careers, and these men are no exception.

Frank Zappa's 1977 Halloween concert at New York City's Palladium Theater. All the cameras are on-stage, nothing from out front, which is interesting but doesn't give you that audience perspective. Frank Zappa, Terry Bozzio, Roy Estrada, Adrian Belew, Ed Mann, Patrick O'Hearn, Peter Wolf, Tommy Mars, and "New York's Finest Crazy Persons", contains incredible live performances, back-stage and studio antics, and (too much) brain-melting clay-mation. A must for any Zappa fan.

Steppenwolf is a Canadian-American rock band, prominent from 1968 to 1972. The group was formed in late 1967 in Los Angeles by lead singer John Kay, keyboardist Goldy McJohn, and drummer Jerry Edmonton. Steppenwolf sold over 25 million records worldwide, released 8 gold albums and 12 Billboard Hot 100 singles, of which six were top 40 hits, including three top 10 successes: "Born to Be Wild", "Magic Carpet Ride", and "Rock Me". Steppenwolf recorded six studio albums for Dunhill Records in the short span between 1968 and 1971. The band enjoyed worldwide success, but clashing personalities led to the end of the core lineup.

The band were propelled to success with their classic single 'Born To Be Wild' (a #2 hit in the USA) and became even wider known when the track was featured, along with their version of 'The Pusher' in the classic 1969 counterculture film Easy Rider. 'The Second' was released in October '68 and featured the hit single 'Magic Carpet Ride' (another US #2 hit).

The World's Worst Records is a two volume album series released by Rhino Records in 1983 and 1985. Compiled by "The Rhino Brothers" (Rhino Records' founders Richard Foos and Harold Bronson), most of the songs are taken from records that were either recorded as novelties or recorded seriously but became jokes in time. Some are jokes, some are meant to be laughed at.
