The Stranglers release the long-awaited new album Dark Matters. Surviving Stranglers band members, JJ Burnel, Baz Warne, and newest member Jim Macaulay completed Dark Matters remotely during lockdowns, making it their first album since 2012. The album features the single 'And If You Should See Dave…', an honest tribute to their much-missed keyboard player Dave Greenfield who tragically passed away a year ago from Covid-19.

Barry "Baz" Warne (born 25 March 1964 in Sunderland, England) is the current guitarist and vocalist of The Stranglers. Earlier in his career, he was the guitarist and front-man of numerous bands.

The Dwarfs of East Agouza is a trio from Cairo, Egypt, featuring Maurice Louca (Alif, Bikya), Sam Shalabi (Land of Kush, Shalabi Effect) and Alan Bishop (Sun City Girls, The Invisible Hands, Alvarius B.).

Along the way Knopfler also pays homage to gypsy jazz-guitar great Django Reinhardt (who's also gratifyingly represented here by two vintage cuts, "Blues Clair" and "Minor Swing") as well as serving up the quiet, melodic melancholy familiar to admirers of Local Hero and Cal. The balance of the collection is devoted to a motley collection of period-pop (The Stranglers' droll "Peaches," Hot Chocolate's "So You Win Again," Elvis Costello's breakthrough "Alison," Knopfler's own "Sultans of Swing," and Francoise Hardy's "Tous les Garcons et les Filles").
