Au micro d'une radio mobile, Samantha, superbe blonde aveugle, nous raconte trois histoires : celle de Sally, brillante avocate qui va repousser les limites de son corps avec un inconnu; Celle de Molly, une superbe actrice qui s'apprête à tourner une scène de nu. Et enfin sa propre histoire, adressée directement à son père, un dangereux baron de la drogue qui vient de supprimer sa femme et son propre fils, et auquel Samantha, qui en sait trop, essaie d'échapper. Le point commun de ces trois destins : l'amour, le sexe mais aussi le danger et la vengeance…

While this made Shaw a war hero, gained him the Medal of Honor, and launched him into a career in politics, Marco and other members of the troop feel that while they remember that Shaw did rescue them, they do not actually remember him doing it.

Durant la guerre du Golfe, des soldats ont subi un lavement de cerveau et quand ils retournent chez-eux, leur mémoire ne contient que des souvenirs de combats de guerre. Durant la campagne électorale pour choisir le Président des États-Unis, Bennett Marco (Denzel Washington), un ancien soldat, commence à se souvenir du sinistre lavement de cerveau pendant qu'un autre vétéran se présente comme candidat. Thomas Cross assiste en direct au meurtre de Cathy sur son site web. Au moment où il veut avertir la police pour la sauver, il se rend compte qu'il ne connaît ni son nom ni son adresse alors qu'il fréquente son site depuis des mois et entretient avec elle une correspondance électronique amicale et intime. Apparemment seul témoin de l'affaire, Thomas se trouve embarqué dans l'enquête menée par Claire, une jeune spécialiste du crime informatique. Leurs investigations les conduisent à plusieurs découvertes dont les liens probables du frère de Thomas avec une organisation criminelle agissant en direct sur le web. Mais Claire est brutalement dessaisie de l'affaire. Thomas décide alors, avec l'aide de cette dernière, de tendre un piège qui devrait faire éclater la vérité au grand jour…

Claire renonça autrefois à sa carrière de violoncelliste pour épouser en secondes noces Norman Spencer, brillant chercheur en génétique.
