A trio of characters in Edo intersect during a time of puritanical social reform. A ner-do-well, Naojiro, wants to become an actor and get his face in prints (this was the Japanese version of the supermarket tabloids in olden times) and he wants to marry a geisha but his overbearing mother disapproves. A man who abandoned his wife and child returns to discover tragedy has befallen his small family. A "buraikan" plots to overthrow the despotic lord who is imposing the strict social reforms. Buraikan is an expert blend of art and history that follows the paths of six characters trying to make a living during the chaotic Tempou revolution. The intricate story lines are consistently funny, erotic, suspenseful, and absorbing. Nakadai Tatsuyo is eerily compelling as the handsome fortune teller. This dark, witty period drama is an absolute must for any film connoisseur.

Max, following an incident with Claire (his sister) and her friends, and following a tantrum which he throws as a result of his Mother paying more attention to her boyfriend than to him - runs away from home. Wearing his wolf costume at the time, Max not only runs away physically, but runs toward a world in his imagination.

When WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT became a smash hit, indy filmaker Fred Olen Ray (HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS) made the rounds in Hollywood pitching producers on a horrific spoof that would feature a Cartoon Monster and Scantily Clad Girls. No one, including Roger Corman, believed that Fred could effectively combine the cartoon creature and the live action together in a convincing fashion. Undefeated, Fred made the picture himself in eight short days with independent financing and the result was Evil Toons - a certifiable Cult Classic.

After five years in prison, Tony le Stephanois meets his dearest friends Jo and the Italian Mario Ferrati and they invite Tony to steal a couple of jewels from the show-window of the famous jewelry Mappin & Webb Ltd, but he declines. Tony finds his former girlfriend Mado, who became the lover of the gangster owner of the night-club L' Age d' Or Louis Grutter, and he humiliates her, beating on her back and taking her jewels. Then he calls Jo and Mario and proposes a burglary of the safe of the jewelry. They invite the Italian specialist in safes and elegant wolf Cesar to join their team and they plot a perfect heist. They are successful in their plan, but the D. Juan Cesar makes things go wrong when he gives a valuable ring to his mistress.

Living in Oblivion - by Tom DiCillo (1995)

Following up his debut, Johnny Suede, director Tom DiCillo presented this filmmaking comedy that allegedly draws much from DiCillo's experiences on the set of the 1991 Brad Pitt vehicle. Steve Buscemi stars as Nick Reve, the long-suffering director of a no-budget independent film. If he's not dealing with his heartbroken director of photography Wolf (Dermot Mulroney), Reve is trying to keep his leading lady Nicole (DiCillo mainstay Catherine Keener) happy or ignore the pseudo-auteur suggestions of Pitt-inspired name-actor Chad Palomino (James LeGros). All the while, the audience can't ever be sure if the scene they're watching is a dream or reality.
