Multi-instrumentalist David Arkenstone began his recording career back in 1987 with the impressive debut Valley In The Clouds followed up 3 years later with the notable Citizen Of Time. In 1994 Arkenstone released Another Star In The Sky and much like the two previously mention albums his compositions had some elements of the ambient genre. Such influences were less obvious in his subsequent recordings until 2007 when he released Myths and Legends which also had textures of the genre. But not until now has David truly set his mind to fully experimenting with the Ambient World courtesy of this double disc conception…

Phil Collen, lead guitarist of British rock band Def Leppard and alternative roots/rock band Manraze, started Delta Deep as an extreme blues project. The band has been likened to "Aretha Franklin & Chaka Khan performing with Led Zeppelin", thanks to the soulful vocals from singer Debbi Blackwell-Cook.. Phil's love and appreciation for the blues since childhood enabled him to move forward quickly with the band's inception in 2012. "Blues was created out of something completely different from what we hear today. I grew up listening to rock music but then I found out it was all based on blues. Jimmy Page, Hendrix, all of those guys-they got it from blues.

Vignettes is Crispell's first solo album for ECM. As with her previous work for the label, she explores the lyrical, poetical, intimate side of her playing. The goal here, in performing fixed pieces or improvisations, is to play music from the heart and to rule out any habitual or stylized expression.
