The recent passing of Mstislav Rostropovich marked the end of an era. Warner Classics is proud to release this comprehensive set that catalogs the enormous impact that this one man had on cello repertoire and on the entire musical community. Several of the works in this set were either commissioned by or inspired by Rostropovich. Many Composers themselves conduct their works on these CDs.
This very personal album, dedicated to Mischa’s young daughter Mila, features all new recordings with his daughter Lily Maisky (piano).
