Gene Harris is mainly known for his part of the legendary soul jazz piano trio, The Three Sounds. Ike Quebec's 1961-1962 comeback albums for Blue Note were all pretty rewarding, but Blue and Sentimental is his signature statement of the bunch, a superbly sensuous blend of lusty blues swagger and achingly romantic ballads.

Taking their name from a Steely Dan song, Deacon Blue were one of the best unknown bands in Scotland. Formed in 1985, the group performed its first concert as the opening act for the Waterboys' premier show in England. With the vocals of singer/songwriter Ricky Ross backed by jazz and soul-inspired melodies, Deacon Blue recorded several British hits in the late '80s. Their success, however, failed to carry over to American audiences. Frustrated by the inability to secure international popularity, the group disbanded in the summer of 1994.

The Pink Songs are the be-bop, swings and out tunes from the Blue and Pink concert recordings. They were recorded in February 2002 in Houston, Texas at Ovations Nite Spot. Kellye Gray has been a jazz recording artist since 1990. Her first disc, Standards In Gray (Justice Records) sold an impressive 60,000 plus CD's. Standards and her second recording, Tomato Kiss (Proteus) charted in the top 20 of the Gavin Report.
