After a four year pause, Taken By Trees return to take you on a musical journey - and after a little wait, this one is as magical ever. The first step down an enchanted sonic path with Victoria Bergsman is 'Say You Don't Mind', a deceptively simple lullaby-like cover of the track first recorded by The Moody Blues' Denny Laine. Simultaneously both haunting and soothing with its gently euphoric atmospherics and Bergsman's own distinctly affecting vocals, which demonstrate why off the back of her own releases the former Concretes singer has been sought out by everyone from John Lewis (who had her cover Guns N Roses) to Peter Bjorn & John, who made her singing the centrepiece of their whistled classic, 'Young Folks'. 'Say You Don't Mind', of course, was also a solo hit in 1972 for Colin Blunstone, and Bergsman's new version heralds a whole EP's worth of songs written or recorded by The Zombies frontman which she has been inspired to make her own.

Even with six different vocalists lending their talents to the album, Pyramid still remains an average bit of material from the Alan Parsons Project. Not only does the album's theme evolve around the mystique of the pyramid, but it also touches on man's fascination with superstition and its powers…

One of the most interesting aspects about the Alan Parsons Project is the band's ability to forge a main theme with each of its songs, while at the same time sounding extremely sharp and polished. Much of this formula is used in Ammonia Avenue, only this time the songs rise above Parsons' overall message due to the sheer beauty of the lyrics partnered with the luster of the instruments…

In a 2007 live review in the New York Times, Jon Pareles described the band: "Melding sustained organ chords with slow fingerpicked guitar, the Papercuts’ music merged Velvet Underground ballads with touches of the Byrds, while Jason Quever sang in a high, diffident voice about elusive love." A PopMatters review described Papercuts as "a marching band on Quaaludes" and "part atmospheric, part dream pop rock, always melodic, and never boring". A Houston Press review of Can't Go Back described the album as having a "warm, sunny sound, recalling northern California circa 1968", going on to describe the band as "a lo-fi version of The Byrds".

The 70s were indeed magical times music-wise many of the favourites from the swinging-sixties continued to feature such as Elvis Cliff and 'The Rolling Stones' not forgetting the Beatles, though now having gone their separate ways with varying levels of success they each had chart entries during the 70s era, George and indeed Ringo following Solo careers - John both Solo and with the Plastic Ono Band' and 'Paul' both Solo and with Wings And of course we had many great new names throughout the 70's with artists such as the recently departed 'David Bowie along with the emergence of groups such as Queen Abba 10 cc and T.Rex with the likes of 'Rod Stewart' and the young Michael Jackson pursuing Solo ventures.

Like a majority of up-and-coming British bands of the 1960s, the Zombies made nearly two dozen BBC Light and Radio 1 transmissions between the fall of 1964 and the spring of 1968. The 29 cuts hail from a variety of those programs. In many cases their alternate persona as a consummate and immensely soulful cover combo is likewise illuminated. The contents are presented in a relatively chronological manner, commencing with one of the group's earliest shots (if not the earliest shot) on Saturday Club, broadcast on October 3, 1964…

Esoteric Recordings is proud to announce the release of a new re-mastered limited edition deluxe expanded boxed set of the classic album Ammonia Avenue by The Alan Parsons Project.
First released in February 1984, Ammonia Avenue was the seventh album by The The Alan Parsons Project, the brainchild of composer, musician and manger Eric Woolfson and celebrated producer and engineer Alan Parsons. The inspiration for the album title came from a visit Woolfson had made to the ICI Chemical plant in Billingham, England after meeting ICI chairman Sir John Harvey-Jones on a flight from New York. Upon visiting the plant, Eric Woolfson noticed a long street called Ammonia Avenue, devoid of people and trees and dominated by miles of pipes…
