Book of Wizards

Fourteen-year-old Nita is in Ireland, spending the summer with her aunt. As a young wizard, Nita is fascinated by the forces at work in this ancient land. Sometimes, the world seems to be shifting sideways into another dimension. Layers of history, rich with battles between superhuman tribes, lurk beneath the surface of every moment. When Nita discovers that her aunt is a wizard, too, Nita realizes that this summer will not be a vacation. Ireland truly is in danger: her past is breaking into the present. And if this disintegration of time continues, the rest of the physical world will crumble, too. Nita must help her aunt and the other wizards restore order again.

Rest and relaxation: that's what Nita thinks she's going to get when her little sister, Dairine, signs her up for a wizardly "cultural exchange" program, sending Nita and her partner-wizard Kit halfway across the galaxy over spring break. But nothing about wizardry, not even vacation, is ever quite that simple. Back home, Dairine and her dad have to cope with their side of the exchange: three young wizards who've just moved in and are eager to start experiencing a strange alien culture…Earth. Meanwhile, Nita finds herself in a world that is a little too perfect.

In the hotly anticipated ninth installment of the Young Wizards series, Kit and Nita become part of an elite team investigating the mysterious “message in a bottle,” which holds the first clues to the secrets of the long-lost inhabitants of Mars.

Not everything can be fixed with magic–teenage angst, for example. Young wizards Kit and Nita are having such a tough time coping with adolescence that they go their separate ways. Neither wants to call it a breakup, but that's what it seems to be. Heartsick, they throw themselves into their magical studies.
