Eric Dolphy - Here and There (1960 - 1961)
MP3 | 320KBPS | 80,58Mb

German trumpeter/composer Frederic Rabold is at home with the jazz idioms of Dixieland and swing, the modernisms of Gil Evans and the Avantegarde explorations of Gunter Hampel. Influenced by trumpet icons Chet Baker, Clifford Brown, and Booker Little, he has worked with Lester Bowie, Albert Mangelsdorff, and Tony Oxley. Ribold’s Crew was popular throughout the 70’s, and with the addition of American singer Lauren Newton, this edition of the crew was particularly successful.

One of the most important jazz albums of all time. The composer and top drummer Max Roach started to develop this musical suite in 1959 and the LP was released in 1960. The Penguin Guide to Jazz has awarded the album one of its rare crown accolades, in addition to featuring it as part of its Core Collection. Many great artists colaborate, like the vocalist Abbey Lincoln (Roach's wife), the legendary saxophonist Coleman Hawkins, the amazing conga player Michael Olatunji and more. Enjoy a real masterpiece.

Another remarkable album with Max Roach. After the tragic death of Clifford Brown in 1956, Max recorded this album at September 1958, with a "New Quintet" introducing the young promising trumpeter Booker Little and the outstanding tenorman George Coleman. He uses a tuba (3rd horn) and a bass. The genius of Max Roach, managed to record another jazz masterpiece without piano or guitar. One in a million. Enjoy.

For his second recording as a leader, trumpeter Freddie Hubbard (22-years-old at the time) performs two compositions apiece by Kenny Dorham and Hank Mobley, the obscure "I Wished I Knew" and his own "Blues for Brenda." Hubbard (featured in a quintet with tenor-saxophonist Mobley, pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Philly Joe Jones) takes quite a few outstanding solos, playing lyrically on the ballads and building his own sound out of the Clifford Brown/Lee Morgan tradition. Goin' Up an excellent set of advanced hard bop that was reissued as a CD in 1997.
