Anyone who’s read metal reviews for a while knows the two major intro paragraph fallbacks for popular and/or established metal bands. The first is to call them “the AC/DC of [subgenre]” and conveniently using a tautology to describe the sound, i.e. Cannibal Corpse sounds like Cannibal Corpse. The second is invoking the shadow of the band’s crowning achievement and asking rhetorically if the new record will beat it. Entombed A.D. isn’t established enough to be an AC/DC band, and Entombed simpliciter changed their sound more than once. Plus, there’s no agreement on a single crowning achievement—Left Hand Path, Clandestine, and dark horse candidate Wolverine Blues vie for that spot. With no fallbacks at my disposal, I’ll just fall forward into Bowels of Earth.

It has been three years since the release of VOLA's defining album, 'Witness.' Yama no Att-chan. (山のアッちゃん。, "Att-chan of the Mountain(s)") is the second album released by Shonen Knife and is almost exclusively in Japanese. The album was named after Atsuko, their drummer, the honorific "-chan" being added. Thus the title a bit of a pun, since the drummer's name is, when rendered Japanese style, Yamano Atsuko.

Motown Unreleased 1968 comes in a two part download. Part 1 has 50 tracks and Part 2 38 tracks. Suit all Motown fans even if you just want to pick and mix. I’m going to start with BLINKY WILLIAMS who during her tenure at Motown never had an album released and only a handful of singles! Finally we get to hear 9 excellent tracks which showcase the full range of her amazing voice. It’s hard to pick a favourite so I’ll just name ‘Sweet Joy Of Life’ and ‘Billy Buchanan’. In summation, 88 new tracks is a lot of listening and the compliers please everyone besides they are limited as to what is actually available to them.

Like many who followed him Tommy started his musical career by playing in a skiffle group. He was also the first of the London based artists who would precurse their fame by singing at the 2 'I's Coffee Bar- a venue which later hosted the virtually unknown Adam Faith and Cliff Richard. Although Tommy's brand of Rock and Roll was nearer to 'easy listening' than that of some of his American contemporaries he more than made up for it with his personality. His manager, Larry Parnes, once said "Tommy Steele was the greatest entertainer that I ever had on my books", and Tommy Steele's rise as a teenage star was probably attributable to charisma rather than simple sex appeal.
