Ennio Morricone was probably the most famous film composer of the 20th century. He was also one of the most prolific composers working in any medium. No exact figure is available, but he scored over 500 films over several decades, plus many dozens of classical works. While his film scores were in almost every imaginable musical style (and for almost every imaginable kind of movie), he was most identified with the "spaghetti Western" style of soundtracks, which he pioneered when providing the musical backdrop for the films of director Sergio Leone. Morricone's palette was extraordinarily diverse, drawing from classical, jazz, pop, rock, electronic, avant-garde, and Italian music, among other styles. Esteemed by such important figures in modern music as John Zorn (not to mention contemporary directors like Martin Scorsese), he was frequently placed among not just the finest soundtrack composers but the most important contemporary composers of any sort.

The next chapter of Danny Kiranos, p/k/a Amigo the Devil, continues with Yours Until the War Is Over - his most disarming and singular work to date. The 13-track project weaves themes of relatable self-destruction and trauma bonding with arresting authenticity. Riddled with obscure literary references - akin to Kiranos' maniac reading habit - the album proves that this whole Amigo the Devil thing isn't some true crime niche. Killing for Revenge marks the second album that SFU mainman Chris Barnes and guitarist Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse) have created together since reuniting for 2020's Nightmares of the Decomposed, an album one critic praised an "often slow-ish and doomy yet crushing death metal" which offered an "uncompromising show of strength." Owen also produced Killing for Revenge. Six Feet Under was initially formed as a side project for Barnes during his final years with the band that he co-founded, Cannibal Corpse. It became the frontman's sole focus in 1995, coinciding with the release of their debut, Haunted. Only Barnes remains from the original SFU band, but the quality has remained remarkably consistent. The current lineup of Barnes, guitarists Owen and Ray Suhy, bassist Jeff Hughell, and drummer Marco Pitruzzella make for a devastating unit. "I'm really fortunate that I have probably the best musicians in metal. The lineup now is untouchable," Barnes says. Clearly, 2024 is shaping up to be a massive year for Six Feet Under, and Barnes hopes to take full advantage."I'd like to get a tour put together," he says. "I would love to get back out on the road. It's been too long. Three of those years were due to the pandemic. I love being on the road. I love being in a tour bus and being in front of people on stage. I have missed it so much. It's what I was meant to do."

A side project band started by Chris Barnes and Allen West of Obituary. Originally, the band was intended to just be a side thing, but Chris Barnes decided to pursue the idea of having a groove-laden death metal band that just wasn't about blast beats and speed. In due time, because Chris was making Six Feet Under a priority band, his original band Cannibal Corpse asked him to leave the band because he never made time to practice with them and he focused way more on Six Feet Under than Cannibal Corpse.
