The Flatlands Collective - Maatjes (2008) is an album by the Dutch jazz collective known as The Flatlands Collective. Soulstorm (2010) is an album by the avant-garde jazz trio consisting of Ivo Perelman (saxophone), Daniel Levin (cello), and Torbjörn Zetterberg (bass). The album is a powerful and intense exploration of free jazz and improvisation. Each musician brings their own distinctive voice to the trio, creating a unique and dynamic sound.

"There's a saying in Portugal which tells us that there isn't two things without a third one, and the confirmation seems universal: Elliott Sharp's Octal project has a new volume, the third, with more material coming from his very special Koll 8-string guitar/bass, an electroacoustic hollow-bodied guitar with two extra bass strings built by the luthier Saul Koll.

Introduced on her 2015 Clean Feed album Save Your Breath, Kris Davis' Infrasound octet is a monster of a band capable of delivering a gargantuan punch. Creative jazz pianist/composer Davis is joined here by drummer Jim Black, organist Gary Versace, and electric guitarist Nate Radley, and as if they weren't enough to rattle the windows, peerless clarinetists Ben Goldberg, Oscar Noriega, Joachim Badenhorst, and Andrew Bishop add the deep vibrations of their bass and contrabass instruments to the ensemble. Then, for added oomph, Davis enlisted rock veteran producer Ron Saint Germain (Bad Brains, Sonic Youth, Living Colour) to engineer and mix the session.

Max Johnson is a bassist & composer based in New York City. Johnson has performed over 1000 concerts worldwide with renowned artists such as Anthony Braxton, Muhal Richard Abrams, John Zorn, and Candido Camero. His albums have been positively reviewed in the New York Times, JazzTimes, NYC Jazz Record, and in 2012, he was voted Best Newcomer Musician in El Intruso's International Critic’s Poll.

The Argentinian contribution to the universality of jazz is measured by everything Leandro “Gato” Barbieri gave to the music, and the gauge was put very high by the late saxophonist. Every sax player who emerged, after him, from the Buenos Aires scene had that extra challenge, and that’s the case of Ada Rave, who choose Europe – she’s based in Amsterdam – instead of the United States (Barbieri’s case), to start a succesful international career.

There is a particular, stately calmness about this album as if it’s out-worldly sonics have been chiseled off some strange marble. From the abrasive brass opener onward, up to that final anguished scream, a sense of meticulously sculpted logic envelops it’s razor-sharp, elegantly reserved pieces. Wholly born of spontaneous improvisation, it is equally their subjection to the subtle sets of constraints and restrictions that make up for their final beauty.

“Last Kind Words” – it’s a new avant-garde jazz album released by “Clean Feed Records”. Album improvisations had been played by experimental jazz ensemble “Roots Magic” which members are Alberto Popolla (clarinet, bass clarinet), Errico De Fabritiis (alto, baritone sax), Gianfranco Tedeschi (double bass0, Fabrizio Spera (drums) and ensemble guests Luca Venitucci (organ and piano in tracks 1,4,6,9), Luca Tilli (cello on track 3 and 7) and Antonio Castiello (dub effects on track 12).

Avram Fefer’s new Clean Feed release, Testament, is the kind of project that excites and entices even on paper. First there’s Fefer, the saxophonist and composer who has been an important contributor to the adventurous New York scene for the past quarter-century, and whose collaborators have included Bobby Few, Archie Shepp, the Last Poets, Sunny Murray, Tony Allen, Reggie Washington, Roy Campbell and many others.
