Clue 1985

Clue (Cluedo outside North America) is a 1985 black comedy film based on the board game of the same name. The film is a murder mystery set in a Gothic Revival mansion, and is styled after Murder by Death (which also featured Clue star Eileen Brennan) and other various murder/dinner parties of mystery. The film was directed by Jonathan Lynn, who collaborated on the script with John Landis, and stars Tim Curry, Eileen Brennan, Martin Mull, Lesley Ann Warren, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, and Madeline Kahn. The film was produced by Debra Hill.

A previously unreleased solo live show from the late Richard Manuel, one of the lead singers of the Band, includes a mix of Band classics, two original instrumentals, & exquisite covers of Ray Charles, Fats Domino, & J.J. Cale. Recorded in 1985 at Woodstock's The Getaway club. Features guest appearances by Rick Danko & Jim Weider. We’re all “cameramen” these days, but the more our YouTube opuses dominate everything from reality TV to the Paranormal Activity movies, the further we get from understanding cinematography as an artform. The elegant Jack Cardiff, a British painter, shooter and ace anecdote-teller (here captured near the end of his magnificent career), will always represent the finer, even fussier side of the lushness of movies. Martin Scorsese, one of this doc’s many articulate testifiers to the Technicolor expert’s importance, puts it well: “Maybe it’s because of where I came from,” Scorsese says, referring to his NYC mean streets. “Neorealism I had right around me. If I wanted to go to a movie, I wanted something…fantastical.”

Limited UK box set from the British Alt-Rock trio consisting of 3/4ths of Goth legends Bauhaus: Daniel Ash, David J and Kevin Haskins. Under-appreciated in Europe, Love And Rockets were capable of a far more colorful sonic palate than the darker sounds of their previous incarnation, as these CDs attest. The box contains digitally remastered and expanded editions of the albums Seventh Dream Of Teenage Heaven (1985), Express (1986), Earth Sun & Moon (1987), and Love & Rockets (1989) along with a fifth disc consisting of 18 non-album tracks.
