Enigma is a German electronic project formed in 1990 by Michael Cretu, David Fairstein and Frank Peterson. Cretu is both the composer and the producer of the project.

While numerous new wave artists in the early '80s tried to imitate David Bowie, Peter Schilling went a step further. In 1983, Schilling released "Major Tom (Coming Home)," a synth pop retelling of Bowie's 1969 classic "Space Oddity." It became Schilling's first and only entry in the U.S. charts, a song that eventually stigmatized him as a one-hit wonder in America. Schilling was born in Stuttgart, Germany, on January 28, 1956. As a teen, Schilling couldn't decide on whether to be a soccer player or a singer. He chose music and his debut album, Error in the System, appeared in 1983. The single "Major Tom (Coming Home)" wasn't just popular in the U.S., it was a worldwide smash.

In April 1998 Donalds received a call from producer and songwriter Michael Cretu, who wanted to engage him for the Enigma project. The outcome was that they collaborated not only on Enigma songs but also on two solo albums. His third album Snowin' Under My Skin included two singles: All Out of Love, a cover version of the Air Supply song which achieved international platinum status, and Simple Obsession.

Andru Donalds is a musician and vocalist who works in collaboration with Enigma as lead vocalist (in E4 and E5), and with Michael Cretu, who produced Andru's album, "Snowin' Under My Skin" and "Let's Talk About It". Andru is now focusing on his solo career. Let's Talk About It, his fourth album, featured the single One Night Lover.
