Jazz Undulation is an exciting live album that captured tenor saxophonist Johnny Griffin in an interesting and unusual setting. Bassist Jimmy Woode and drummer Kenny Clarke were frequent collaborators of Griffin's at the time, all three living in Europe and being members of the Clarke-Boland Big Band. Pianist Hampton Hawes was visiting Europe at the time, and probably just happened to meet them in Rome.

Blue Note was one of the first labels to recognize the power of jazz, and as such, their catalog runs from the beginnings of jazz to the modern era. Our 2nd Edition was remastered AAA (with the exception of the modern album) by Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio and are pressed on 180g black vinyl. Every one of the Blue Note VMP Anthology records shows artists in transition, moving to something different than what they did the album before and, in retrospect, you can see where it aims into where they were going next. But they are all beautiful snapshots of a significant moment of pushing the envelope and that’s what ties them all together,

The original Chico Hamilton Quintet was one of the last significant West Coast jazz bands of the cool era. Consisting of Buddy Collette on reeds (flute, clarinet, alto, and tenor), guitarist Jim Hall, bassist Carson Smith, and the drummer/leader, the most distinctive element in the group's identity was cellist Fred Katz. The band could play quite softly, blending together elements of bop and classical music into their popular sound and occupying their own niche. This six-CD, limited-edition box set from 1997 starts off with a Hamilton drum solo from a 1954 performance with the Gerry Mulligan Quartet; it contains three full albums and many previously unreleased numbers) by the original Chico Hamilton band and also has quite a few titles from the second Hamilton group (which has Paul Horn and John Pisano in the places of Collette and Hall).
