Conductor Florian Heyerick is best known for his incisive interpretations of Baroque and Classical music, and for his work with the vocal/instrumental ensemble he founded, Ex Tempore. Early in his career Heyerick taught choral conducting at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent, but gradually developed his career as a conductor, first in the choral realm, then in orchestral music. Heyerick's repertory reaches back to about 1600, but focuses heavily on works by composers active around a century or so later, particularly Telemann and J.S. Bach. Mozart also figures strongly in his concert programs.

Roland Kaiser One of the most successful and popular German-speaking schlager singers of all time, Ronald Keiler was born in Berlin in 1952. Keiler was working as a marketing executive in a car firm in 1974 when he was discovered by producer Gerd Kämpfe, and he issued his debut single, "Was ist wohl aus ihr geworden?," in 1976 under the stage name Roland Kaiser. A legendary entertainer, Kaiser has released numerous chart-topping albums and singles, most notably "Santa Maria," "Dich zu Lieben," and "Sieben Fässer Wein."

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach was music director of five of Hamburg's principal churches from 1768 until his death in 1788. It was a strenuous and risky position of great responsibility. He was to make church services as attractive as possible with performances of his own original compositions alongside those of his contemporaries, so the faithful would show up in droves to church.

Weichet nur, betrübte Schatten (Dissipate, you troublesome shadows), BWV 202, is a secular cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach. It was likely composed for a wedding, but scholars disagree on the dating which could be as early as Bach's tenure in Weimar, around 1714, while it has traditionally been connected to his wedding to Anna Magdalena on 3 December 1721 in Köthen. It is one of Bach's frequently recorded cantatas. The aria "Sich üben im Lieben" ("To practice sweet courtship, to joyously cuddle" or "To cultivate love") is often performed as a concert piece.
