Es ist eine Weltreise – und sogar ein wenig darüber hinaus, was der Philharmonische Kinderchor Dresden und das Vokalensemble amarcord hier gemeinsam unternehmen, nämlich durch die Welt des Liedes, wie Volkslieds, in eigens eingerichteten, faszinierenden Arrangements.

Die Wiederveröffentlichung einer vorzüglichen Einspielung von Bachs (1685-1750) ikonischer Matthäus-Passion mit führenden Solisten und Instrumentalisten der englischen Alte-Musik-Szene der neunziger Jahre: Paul Goodwin leitet ein Ensemble von spezialisierten Instrumentalisten, darunter Rachel Podger (1. Violine) und Ashley Solomon (Flöte), zudem die Gesangssolisten Nancy Argenta, Lynda Lee, Rufus Müller, Richard Jackson, Jamie MacDougall, Stephen Varcoe und Jonathan Peter Kenny. Die Aufnahme fängt eine szenische Aufführung unter der Regie des bekannten Jonathan Miller ein.

Knapp vier Jahre ist es her, dass Adel Tawil sein letztes Album veröffentlicht hat. In der Zwischenzeit erschienen Singles wie »Niemandsland« und »Labyrinth« mit dem Hamburger Rapper Bozza.

Rückblick ins Jahr 1971. In ganz Deutschland läuft ein Song rauf und runter: »Zeig mir den Platz an der Sonne«, das Lied von Udo Jürgens für die ARD-Fernsehlotterie.

Mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly and pianist Joseph Middleton have produced a CD with three of Mahler’s best known song cycles; the Rückert-Lieder, Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen and the Kindertotenlieder.

What was special about this was that not only Lincke's music sounded true to the original, but the original dialogue by Heinrich Bolten-Baeckers was also trusted, without being shortened or fashionably updated. And lo and behold: the result is an operetta revelation! Lincke was simply more than just an ingenious inventor of melodies: refined and elaborate ensembles and finales show great compositional quality. And then, of course, there is the dream cast: René Kollo and Maria Leyer for the "great" singing parts of Luna and Prince Sternschnuppe, and singing folk actors like Wolfgang Völz, Lotti Krekel and Ernst H. Hilbig for the traveling moon troupe. Together with the Lehár's Rastelbinder production of the ORF from 1981 with the incomparable Fritz Muliar (CD 5816938) we now have two almost historical jewels of the operetta - discography in our catalog!

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach was music director of five of Hamburg's principal churches from 1768 until his death in 1788. It was a strenuous and risky position of great responsibility. He was to make church services as attractive as possible with performances of his own original compositions alongside those of his contemporaries, so the faithful would show up in droves to church.
