Contrary to popular perception, Led Zeppelin isn't exactly averse to reunions. If anything, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant can't keep away from each other. Just four years after John Bonham's 1980 death, Page laid down guitar on Robert Plant's oldies act the Honeydrippers, and not long after that, John Paul Jones joined the pair for a performance at 1985's Live Aid. That set was trashed by the public and band alike, as was their subsequent 1988 appearance at Atlantic Records' 40th Anniversary celebration, but despite these lackluster gigs, rumors of a full-fledged reunion continued to circulate well into the new millennium, even after Page & Plant recorded a pair of albums in the mid-'90s - a project that caused tension with Jones, who was unaware of the collaboration until its release…

Dead Battery is a 2CD soundboard recording of Led Zeppelin performing live at the Hampton Roads Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia on 9 September, 1971, two months before the release of their fourth albums, so the audience was hearing "Black Dog", "Going To California" and "Stairway To Heaven" for the first time. The CD does not document the full show and "Immigrant Song" begins somewhere during the performance, midway through the first verse. This was released on a label allegedly from Japan called Flagge.

Funeral For A Friend is a Led Zeppelin bootleg taken from a live show on 19 September, 1970 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The group played two shows that day, one at 2pm and another at 8pm. This CD is taken from the late show at 8pm. The audience recording was taped the day after the death of guitarist Jimi Hendrix, and Robert Plant offers condolences. This was performed a little over two weeks before the release of Led Zeppelin III, so it is quite pleasant to hear the reaction to the new material that includes "That's The Way", "Gallows Pole", "Since I've Been Loving You" and "Immigrant Song".

Everything about Coverdale/Page, right down to the goofy copping of the Presence artwork, is an attempt to recapture the pompous majesty of Led Zeppelin. It doesn't succeed, of course, but it does leave all of the Zep clones in the dust. Although Jimmy Page plays better here than he has since 1979's In Through the Out Door, there is a conspicuous lack of solos. If you've never liked David Coverdale, his performance will not change your opinion. Both fare better on the rockers; the power ballads tend be slightly tedious. Essentially, Coverdale/Page boils down to a guilty pleasure at its best moments ("Shake My Tree," "Pride and Joy," "Absolution Blues"), but never quite rivals the bold experimentation of Led Zeppelin.

Coverdale•Page is an album by Whitesnake lead vocalist David Coverdale and former Led Zeppelin and London session guitarist Jimmy Page (as Coverdale•Page), released by Geffen Records on 15 March 1993. The album was recorded at Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver, Criteria Studios in Miami, Granny's House in Reno, Nevada and Abbey Road Studios, London. Recording commenced in the fall of 1991 and concluded in early 1992. It was produced by Jimmy Page, David Coverdale and Canadian record producer, Mike Fraser. Adding to the Led Zeppelin sound of this album was the John Bonham-influence of former Montrose drummer Denny Carmassi. According to David Coverdale, the traffic sign shown on the cover of the album signified "two roads joining to one road. Try to express unification or joining together."
