Rhino began its elaborate Chicago reissue series in 2002 with The Very Best of Chicago: Only the Beginning, a double-disc set that covers 39 hits from all of Chicago's eras from the early jazzy records, through the soft rock hits sung by Peter Cetera, to the post-Cetera adult contemporary records of the '80s, and beyond. It's the first compilation to cover this much ground, actually 1991's Group Portrait stopped around Cetera's departure and while it may go a little bit further than some would want (a cover of Louis Prima's "Sing, Sing, Sing" from their 1995 neo-swing album closes the set; it happens to feature the Gipsy Kings on support), it nevertheless is very satisfying, since it rounds up all of the hits, and Chicago were at their very best on their hits.

18 years on from the release of the very first ‘Disco Spectrum’ LP, Joey Negro and Sean P revisit the project, selecting the finest cuts from this much-loved album series. Three volumes of Disco Spectrum were released on BBE between 1999 and 2002, heralding a disco revival that, almost two decades later, just keeps gaining momentum. Known by a plethora of aliases including Jakatta and Akabu as well as Joey Negro, Isle of White native Dave Lee has been at the epicenter of UK dance music since the late 1980s.

The first parisian gig of The xx to the discovery of the new groups who were squatting the bar, The Motel has seen in a decade, a sample non-negligible amount of music of Paris and elsewhere. It is therefore a fair return lift to the founders that to publish a compilation of 22 unreleased songs where you can find peel-a blend of artists who have, in their own way, participated in the life of the bar : Iñigo Montoya and the Sun is high, LENPARROT, Mina Tindle, Dorian Pimpernel, and even the other of Of Montreal.

Joe Walsh's catalog by this point was two albums strong and of a consistently high quality. Despite a change of lineup for So What - a wide range of musicians is used, including the Eagles' Don Henley - the sound is very similar to previous releases. A number of classic Walsh tracks are featured, including a more polished version of "Turn to Stone," originally featured on his debut album, Barnstorm, in a somewhat more riotous style.

Country singer-songwriter Liz Sharpe (a.k.a. Little Feather) literally has music in her blood. From the tiny Appalachian town of Pikeville, Kentucky, she was born into the fabled singing dynasty that includes Loretta Lynn and Patty Loveless (her second cousins) and she has been making music practically since she emerged from the womb. At age three she announced to her unsuspecting parents "Mama, I am music", and her daddy promptly went out and sold his guitar and accordion to buy his daughter her first piano.
