in comic books refer to the miniseries sequels to American director John Carpenter's popular cult film, published by Dark Horse Comics. The latter was ostensibly a remake of the 1951 Howard Hawks-Christian Nyby film , but Carpenter's film is a more faithful adaptation of the novella by John W. Campbell, Jr. which inspired the 1951 film. Dark Horse Comics published four comic miniseries sequels (, , , and ), featuring the character MacReady (played by actor Kurt Russell in the film) as the lone human survivor of Outpost #31. appeared in Dark Horse Comics #13-16 as a four-issue miniseries, from September 1, 1993 to December 1, 1993. At the time the title was a monthly anthology of stories in overlapping mini-series format, usually of the science-fiction, action-adventure and horror genres. was featured together with miniseries of and (likewise comic sequels of the hit films), each miniseries written by a different team of writers and artists.

(2001), with art by Chris Weston and Russ Heath, is graphic novel published as a 2-part serial in June 2001. Also released as a softcover trade paperback (TPB), it revives the first American fictional comic book character whose story is told from the enemy point of view, Germany's best fighter pilot of World War I, Rittmeister Hans Von Hammer, a.k.a. "The Hammer of Hell." This graphic novel recounts the pilot's activities during World War II where he is persuaded to once again fight as a pilot of the Luftwaffe. Here Von Hammer's character and story arc is based on several real-life German pilots', notably Adolf Galland. Garth Ennis had the difficult task of writing what was essentially a sequel, in a different time period, and he succeeds. He was able to break free of the stereotyping mindset of the pop-culture media--including comics--and presents Enemy Ace as a paradox: Von Hammer is still a German who kills Americans and America's allies. Yet, readers can admire Von Hammer for his courage and remarkable abilities.

It would seem Zenescope has decided to make these one-shot an ongoing series. Coming from the heels of the previous week's Chesire Cat story is , released June 24, 2009. As the title says, and as with others, it's a story about a character that appears in related Grimm Fairy Tale titles. It also includes a back-up story, "The Arrangement Chapter Two", continuing from the Cheshire Cat one-shot.

I thought Zenescope had their series of one-shots entitled complete when i posted them last March 18, 2009. As stated in said post, the continuity is that this series serves as prequel to Zenescope's hugely popular spin-off . It turns out Zenescope has one more tale to tell, , released just yesterday, June 17, 2009. As with the others of this title, it is about another Lewis Carroll character, the eponymous Cheshire Cat, that eventually appears in the storyline of the gruesome .

+ Issues #1-61 Complete

is an American monthly black and white comic published by Image Comics beginning in 2003. The comic was created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore (replaced by Charlie Adlard from issue #7 onward) and chronicles the travels of a group of people trying to survive in a world stricken by a zombie apocalypse. IMHO the best among all the current comic book series ongoing. Thus far the series has been divided into 6-issue story arcs, with issue #61, contrary to what I've stated before, not the start of the 11th story arc but instead was a standalone entitled, "The Dead Do Not Stalk." Issue #62 starts the 5-part story entitled, "Fear The Hunters."

Scalped #29 (Ongoing)
Eng | RS & MU | CBR | Vertigo (DC Comics) | June 3, 2009 | 25 Pages | 18.1 MB

is a ongoing comic book series written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by R. M. Guéra, published monthly by Vertigo Comics. Issue #1 was published on January 3, 2007. Right away the series' style can fairly be described as a fusion of and western elements in a modern setting; concerning organized crime on the (fictional) Prairie Rose Indian Reservation in South Dakota. The artist, R. M. Guéra, uses the colour brown predominantly, with blue and green monotones to emphasize starkness and aiming for a grimy, dirty look. Shadows, the desert and the glaring sun are used to emphasise a sort of stifling atmosphere. Aaron for his part intersperses many allusions to noir prose authors and to the western genre in the names of his characters and in his titles, in a sort of pop homage. How the visuals dovetail with Aaron's narrative approach is never more illustrated than in issue #29, the conclusion to the story arc, "High Lonesome." Graphic and violent.

Cherry Red's Robinsongs division combines a pair of late-'70s Mercury albums by the Bar-Kays: 1978's "Light of Life" and 1979's "Injoy". Given the band's extensive discography (including a Stax-released 1978 album with an incredible re-recording of "Holy Ghost"), these releases have fallen by the wayside, but both of them fared well. The former reached #15 on Billboard's album chart, while the latter missed the top spot by one position. There's a handful of notable singles and deep album cuts, including the charting A-sides "Shine" and "I'll Dance," as well as "Move Your Boogie Body" and the ballad "Running in and Out of My Life."
