Femme Fatale

Femme Fatale, a remake of the 1998 French suspense comedy Serial Lover, revolves around an offbeat series of mysterious murders that take place inside the house of a famous actress. Directed by Kang Kyung Hoon in his first ever featured film, Femme Fatale won endorsement from both critics and moviegoers with its witty, off-the-wall tales. Femme Fatale features the same successful comic ingredients as the original film which won a string of international awards, but brings some local flavor to the plot by adding humor more familiar to Korean audiences. The mystery novel writer of the original film is now a famous actress played by Ye Ji Won (Old Miss Diary). The same formula of bizarre, dark humor that highlighted 1998's The Quiet Family is also applied in Femme Fatale which combines romance, suspense, and comedy.

The thief Laurie Ash steals the expensive diamond jewel called 'Eye of the Serpent' in an audacious heist during an exhibition in Cannes 2001 Festival. She double-crosses her partners and is mistakenly taken as Lily, a woman who lost her husband and son in an accident and is missing since then, by an ordinary family. One day, while having bath in Lily's bathtub, Lily comes back home and commits suicide. Laurie assumes definitely Lily's identity, goes to America where she marries a rich man.
