Following the successful album "Nicht Wiedersehen!", the internationally acclaimed bassist Günther Groissböck and one of the most distinguished pianists in his field, Malcolm Martineau, are now dedicating their new programme to the subject of love; under the title "Männerliebe und Leben" (Men's Love and Life), they explore love from a man's point of view - based on Schumann's well-known cycle "Frauenliebe und -leben" (Women's Love and Life). Beginning with what is probably the first song cycle in music history, "An die ferne Geliebte" by Ludwig van Beethoven, the well-rehearsed duo then present Schumann's "Dichterliebe".

Twenty-five years of "Ensemble Obligat": reason enough to celebrate and honor an extraordinary chamber music formation. On it's anniversary release on GENUIN, Ensemble Obligat has expanded into a chamber orchestra with soloists to present Johannes Brahms' Serenade No. 1 and Louis Spohr's large Nonet in F major.

Four years after his fascinating and highly praised album with works of the Spanish composer Mompou, Arcadi Volodos went into the Berlin Teldex Studio again to deliver another reference recording, this time with the music of Johannes Brahms. Volodos has played the Brahms solo pieces over the past years in places all over the world and received highest critical acclaim for his interpretation. The Brahms solo works are perfect to show Volodos unique ability to create a special and magic sound, a sound “which lifts us, the listener, into the air and which makes us believe that the world is floating" (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung).

Sergey Khachatryan’s fifth recording on Naïve, and second with his sister, is dedicated to the three luminous and deeply romantic sonatas for violin and piano by Johannes Brahms. Spread over ten years, from 1878 to 1888, the three sonatas are contemporary with his four symphonies and are flanked by the Violin Concerto in D major (1878) and the Double Concerto for violin and cello in A minor (1887).

Award-winning violinist Christian Tetzlaff and pianist Lars Vogt are joined together with Tanja Tetzlaff in this exciting new recording of the Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) Piano Trios. The Brahms Piano Trios belong to the very core of the romantic chamber music repertoire. They span a period from the 1850s (the 1st version of Op. 8) to the 1880s, Op. 101 being completed during the last decade of Brahms' active career as a composer. Piano Trio No. 1 was also revised by the composer as late as in 1889.

Formed in 2016, the Quatuor Agate derives its name from one of the most beautiful chamber music pieces, Johannes Brahms’s Second Sextet, dedicated to his second love, Agathe von Siebold. Seven years later, this fascination with Brahms materialized with the release of their debut album in February 2024, featuring the complete String Quartets under Appassionato, le label.

Friends of long standing as well as regular partners in chamber music, Michael Collins and Stephen Hough bring their combined musical insights and expertise to bear on Johannes Brahms’s sonatas for clarinet and piano. Together with the composer’s trio for clarinet, cello and piano and clarinet quintet, the sonatas are among the most treasured works in the repertoire of the instrument – but it is partly down to good luck that we have them at all.
