On stage they’re usually rivals, but in real life Jonas Kaufmann and Ludovic Tézier share a close friendship. After many live performances together these two extraordinary artists have recorded their first duet album: “Insieme”, meaning “together” in Italian, to be released on Sony Classical. Accompanied by the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia under Antonio Pappano, they present duets they’ve sung together on stage, plus works specially chosen for the album.

Vous ne rêvez pas, ce n’est pas un disque de Marcel Perez que vous écoutez mais bien les Vêpres de la Vierge de Monteverdi pour le label Alpha. Simon-Pierre Bestion, continuiste fidèle des Cris de Paris et d’Insula Orchestra, dirige ici son ensemble La Tempête. Fou de polyphonie vocale, il se nourrit des traditions populaires de Sardaigne, de Corse. Ses Vêpres sont donc tout à fait étonnantes, enrichies de faux-bourdons et d’antiennes grégoriennes ! Et l’instrumentation n’étant pas toujours précisée, l’orchestre s’est librement enrichi de timbres peu communs mais respectueux du cosmopolitisme italien de la Venise de l’époque (un shofar, des harpes, des trombones, des chitarrones).
