Judging by Toolroom's latest mammoth collection, the sound of the White Island in 2014 will be uplifting house music. Granted, there are some diversions on this compilation thanks to Eric Sneo's rattling minimalism and Doorly's jacking "Thunder Clap", but these are few and far between. Even Kelis gets in on the vocal house sound, with Breach chopping up the singer's vocals on his tracky version of "Rumble". Breach faces stiff competition from his peers though, with Tensnake turning London Grammar's "Hey Now" into an epic vocal anthem. However, the stand out contribution comes from a real veteran and MK's piano-led take on Lancelot's "Givin' It Up (feat Antony & Cleopatra)" recalling classic KMS. Enjoy!

Lookman Adekunle Salami (known as L.A. Salami) releases his stunning debut album on Sunday Best August 26th. Having only picked up the guitar a few years ago after being given one for his 21st birthday L.A. Salami recorded the album in one week at Urchin Studios in Hackney, London ("I wanted to get it live; I'm not interested in the tracking thing"). Working with engineer Dan Cox and producer Matt Ingram, who he was introduced to by old friend and touring partner Lianne Le Havas, L.A. has produced an album of 11 eclectic and exquisite tracks.

The Wintyr is an alternative folktronic trio based in the cities of London & Cape Town. Consisting of songwriter and frontwoman Evelyn Hart, Tristan Carmicheal (synth, piano & guitars) and Brendyn Rossouw (percussion), the group was formed in studio as they came together to write material and produce tracks for Evelyn’s solo album. The collaboration resulted in a significant progression in sound and energy, characterised by ethereal vocals, soaring synths and warlike oriental-inspired percussion. Combined with a storyteller’s depth, The Wintyr’s music has been described as cinematic & emotive, eliciting comparisons to the music of London Grammar, The Naked & Famous and M83. Following two years of work, an album was born. ‘Fury’ will have it’s official worldwide release in the Fall of 2017 and will see the band embarking on promotional trips to the United States and United Kingdom.
