El renombre de Tomás Luis de Victoria (1548-1611) y la extraordinaria calidad de su música, ha ensombrecido a grandes figuras de la polifonía española del esplendoroso siglo XVI. Un siglo que se iniciaba con maestros de la talla de Anchieta y Peñalosa, seguía con Morales y Guerrero para culminar con Victoria, Ambrosio Cotes y Alonso Lobo.
Este último es, sin duda, uno de los más grandes, y aunque no se implicó en las novedades aportadas por la naciente homofonía o la policoralidad del barroco, su arte supo asimilar las nuevas propuestas expresivas, siempre con un dominio de la trama vocal equiparable al de los mejores polifonistas de su época.

Multi-directional pianist Omar Sosa has been offering solo and small ensemble efforts in generous quantity, which makes a larger group effort a welcome commodity. That this one recorded in-concert from Radio France in Paris is all the more inviting, as Sosa's quintet is en fuego for most of this enlivening date. What Sosa offers is a mix of modern jazz, world music, a large dosage of his Cuban heritage, ritual music, subtle techno inferences, and fierce high level musicianship. This CD marked one final effort for Latin percussionist Miguel "Anga" Diaz, who passed away shortly after recording this.

The songs are mixed together from each of his five previous CDs on these four CDs so you don't really get an idea of his growth and maturity as an artist based on this compilation alone. However, this collection is a gem and the new and previously unreleased tracks along with the duets are worth every penny. Pop, ballads, rap, bossa nova, etc., it's all here. You will not be disappointed.

The visible embellishment of this noble instrument was enriched still more by the Spanish composers, who following the traces of his contemporaries. In the case of Fernando Sor, Haydn was his musical guide, where as Aguado, could establish himself with major vehemence, due its particular style, based in the notable right-hand articulation, eschewed the classical patterns, being able to print his own music a flamboyant and refined character.
