Whether or not many jazz guitarists have any gypsy blood, the influence of Django Reinhardt is often readily apparent in their playing. The Django Reinhardt NY Festival saluted the late master with several critically acclaimed concerts at Birdland in the fall of 2000, featuring no fewer than five Django-influenced guitarists, including his son, Babik Reinhardt (heard in one of his last recordings prior to his death a year later), as well as veteran Bucky Pizzarelli, two rising stars in their thirties, Frank Vignola and Birelli Lagrene, and finally the young sensation Jimmy Rosenberg.

The Fedora Club performs beautiful, acoustic, gypsy jazz and swing in the style of Django Reinhardt. Transport yourself to the cafes of Paris with graceful violin, dazzling guitars, and the deep, rich tone of the upright bass.

Recorded in Stockholm with the Hot Club of Sweden, "Stockholm Sweetnin' " is the follow up to Connie Evingson's highly successful tribute to Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli, "Gypsy in My Soul". Like 'Gypsy in My Soul", "Stockholm Sweetnin' " features tunes typical in the hot club genre ("After You've Gone" , "If I Had You") as well as unlikely adaptations (Abbey Lincoln's "Throw it Away", Michel Legrand's "Windmills of Your Mind").

This song, recorded in a living room features David Grisman on mandolin, Frank Vignola and Robin Nolan on guitars, and Michael Papillo on bass. The instruments used on this particular recording are interesting as well. Grisman uses a Giacomel J5 mandolin made in Italy. The archtop guitar played by Vignola is a Thorell Legato. Nolan plays a nylon stringed Dell'Arte DG-RN1, the Robin Nolin model, which is built in the tradition of Jacques Favino.

The "Caffe' Espresso - Made In Italy" project by the Italian guitarist Marco Vienna is a very original acoustic jazz CD. An instrumental rendition of 12 beatiful Italian songs (from the repertoire of Bruno Martino, Gorni Kramer, Fabio Concato, Ennio Morricone, Piero Umiliani and others) loosely played in the style of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club De France, but with a more modern and "Mediterranean" mood.

This concert selected out of all those recorded during the Les Nuits Manouches Festival at last gives us the opportunity to re-experience the reality of that evening, the art of this singular musician, outstanding instrumentalist and unusual personality.Debarre who began playing at age 8, has performed in several significant Romani and jazz festivals, particularly Birdland's "Django festival." He's one of the most active and requested Gypsy guitar player in the world.
