Three CD set charting the birth and early development of American hard rock. In the late 60s, the parallel emergence of psychedelia and the blues-based power trio format saw pop evolve into rock. In America, bands became harder, heavier, rawer and louder to a backdrop of the Vietnam War, street drugs and increasingly powerful amps. Commercially successful acts like Vanilla Fudge, Steppenwolf, Blue Cheer and Iron Butterfly spearheaded a new wave of bands whose sound would later be codified as heavy metal. Over three CDs and four hours of music, 'We're An American Band' charts hard rock's evolution during the late 60s and early 70s, culminating in Grand Funk's game-changing, chart-topping late 1973 single of the same name.

Matti Antero Kristian Fagerholm, best known by his stage name, Michael Monroe, is a Finnish rock musician, and multi-instrumentalist who rose to fame as the vocalist for the glam punk band Hanoi Rocks, and has served as the frontman for all-star side projects, such as Demolition 23. and Jerusalem Slim. Nights Are So Long is Michael Monroe's first post-Hanoi Rocks solo album released in 1987.

The Stooges, originally billed as The Psychedelic Stooges and later known as Iggy and the Stooges, were formed in 1967 out of a chance meeting between James Osterberg (Iggy Pop) and brothers Ron and Scott Asheton at Discount Records in Ann Arbor, Michigan. USA. With the addition of Dave Alexander, a friend of the Asheton brothers, on bass, the band quickly became known locally for their raw live performances and Iggy‘s provocative stage antics.In 1968, Elektra Records sent DJ and publicist Danny Fields to scout the MC5, which led to contracts for both the MC5 and The Stooges. The following year The Stooges released their self-titled debut album; sales were low and it was not well received by critics at the time. For their second album and final record for the label, founder and head of Elektra; Jac Holzman recruited former Kingsmen keyboardist Don Gallucci to produce.

On his 2019 EP Breadcrumbs, shock rock pioneer Alice Cooper paid tribute to his hometown of Detroit, working in a Detroit studio with a host of musicians from the city recording a smattering of covers of Bob Seger, the MC5, Suzy Quatro, the Dirtbombs, and other Motor City favorites. Full-length album Detroit Stories expands on the theme begun with Breadcrumbs, presenting many of the EP's tracks again and fleshing out the record with new originals and covers. Showing up a second time are high-spirited covers of the MC5's "Sister Anne," Seger's "East Side Story," and original tunes "Go Man Go" and "Detroit City 2021" (updated from its title "Detroit City 2020" on the EP).
