Nowadays allstar-projects are nothing new, but remember the year 1999 when Edguy-singer Tobias Sammet defined a whole genre with his solo project Avantasia. The Metal Opera was born and in the following years Avantasia developed into a true force of bombastic Metal. With iconic guest musicians like Alice Cooper, Klaus Meine, Michael Kiske, Jorn Lande, Jon Oliva, Eric Martin and many others joining this ambitious project during the years expectations are getting higher with each new release. “Ghostlights” is another well-crafted Symphonic/Melodic Metal masterpiece! Tobias Sammet showed once more that he is one of the best songwriters we have in Metal right now!

Tim Hecker has revealed details of his latest album, and first record for 4AD. The Canadian composer will release Love Streams on April 8, 2016. Love Streams takes its cues from the avant-classical orchestration and extreme electronic processing of his previous full-length, 2013’s Virgins, but shaped into more melancholic, ultraviolet hues. Inspired by notions of 15th century choral scores (particularly those by Josquin des Prez), transposed to an artificial intelligence-era language of digital resonance and bright synths, the album was assembled gradually, with layers of studio-tracked keyboards, choir and woodwinds being woven into the mix, then molded and disfigured through complex programming. Like hearing some ancient strain of sacred music corrupted by encryption, Hecker admits to thinking about ideas like “liturgical aesthestics after Yeezus” and the “transcendental voice in the age of auto-tune,” during its creation.

Digitally remastered and expanded 20th Anniversary two CD edition. 1995: fresh from finishing and releasing 'Last Train to Lhasa', Toby Marks, aka Banco de Gaia, rolled down to Glastonbury Festival to play on the Avalon Stage in the Field of Avalon. The year was one of the first times dance music had been given significant space at the festival, and Toby's set was much anticipated, with the marquee completely full by the time he came on stage. The set featured many of his most familiar songs, often given radically new arrangements, turning some previously un-danceable tracks into driving club tunes. Toby didn't know until afterwards that the gig had been recorded, but after editing to remove an unclearable sample, it was released by Planet Dog in August 1996.

Erik Grösch, Tom Brenneis and Uwe Ruppel share a long musical history, most notably with their progressive metal trio Annon Vin.
