Successful close-harmony Belgian-English group that attacked the Belgian and Dutch charts in the seventies. Precursor to the group was the formation "The Bats" from Diest, with in it the brothers René & Robert Vlaeyen. These successful Flemish entrepreneurs (René Vlaeyen is nowadays known as a TV-producer with VTM-shows as de Kotmadam & Gaston+Leo at his conscience). had international plans and placed an ad in Melody Maker in search of vocal talent. Steve Davies (who had been a session-musician in England for a group named "Octopus" in England, and who had later come to Germany and Belgium) and Robert Vlaeyen founded the Belgian "Octopus"…
Snowy White is one of a handful of classic blues-orientated British electric guitar players - musicians whose sound, technique and style has echoed the originality of the blues with the excitement of contemporary rock. As well as his solo career, which included the huge international hit Bird Of Paradise, Snowy has toured and recorded with Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy and many more rock legends. He has previously released a number of well received and commercially successful albums as a solo artist and with his band the White Flames. Realistic is a 2011 recording from Snowy and The White Flames, an album that will delight his small army of followers and all fans of great guitar alike.
As far as the more casual observer is concerned, the prog rock revival of the 80s was kicked off by Marillion and their ‘Market Square Heroes’ EP and subsequent hit album ‘Script for A Jester’s Tear’ in 1983. Marillion certainly flew the flag for prog’s unexpected commercial success during that decade, but the rumblings of a brilliant, but terminally unfashionable musical revival had actually begun much earlier.
„Stay Tuned“ is an Allstars-charity project, founded by austrian drummer Bernhard Welz in 2011. Bernhard Welz has been touring all over Europe with many of the performing artists before. When the idea came up to produce a record for a good cause, many of these artists confirmed to be part of it. After a while, it developed it´s own dynamics, and finally even more artists, than basically planned, contributed to the project. „Stay Tuned 1.5“ – a mix between Rock & Ballads, whose net-income will be donated to the Linda McCartney Breast cancer Trust. All these international artists on the album support the fight against cancer and are part of this project…
The Led Zeppelin's Sources of Inspiration compilation contains 20 original jazz and blues recordings circa the 1920s and 1930s that would inform some of Led Zeppelin's most revered reworkings and original compositions. In fact many of these sides have been erroneously credited to either Jimmy Page and/or Robert Plant. The authenticity becomes instantly evident from the copious surface noise taken from the original 78 rpm source materials. That caveat aside, there is some vital music here, which could be considered the rock & roll of its era. Most of the titles found on this volume can be easily associated with their obvious counterparts. Case in point, the 1929 recording of "When the Levee Breaks" by Kansas Joe and Memphis Minnie as well as Bukka White's "Shake 'Em on Down" from 1937, which Zep dubbed "Custard Pie" for inclusion on Physical Graffiti (1975)…
