Linda Perry is an American rock musician, songwriter, and record producer. Once best known as the lead singer and primary songwriter of 4 Non Blondes, Perry has founded two record labels and has become a major songwriter and producer. She has written and produced hit songs for several successful female singers, including P!nk, Christina Aguilera, and Gwen Stefani. Perry has also contributed heavily to albums by Courtney Love and Kelly Osbourne as well as signing and distributing James Blunt in the United States. In Flight is her first solo album, released in 1996. It was produced by Bill Bottrell (Sheryl Crow, Michael Jackson). In Flight was described by Perry as a "mini-concept album" inspired by Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon.

While other singers and musicians adopted the name to front their music in public, the Carter/Burrows/Mills combination continued to record new First Class material, including a self-titled LP that is quite possibly the finest, most ambitious British harmony pop album of the 70s. Beach Baby: The Complete Recordings is the definitive document of both The First Class and John Carter's myriad overlapping activities during the second half of the 70s. EMIs massive five-disc collection of 101 80s Hits is about as budget as you can get without putting the thing together yourself at home. That said, it's nice to hear something other than Queen's We Will Rock You, and hearing Limahl spin his Neverending Story next to Whitesnake is kind of fun, but these collections are a dime a dozen!
