Mit dieser Box mit 16 Sonaten für Klavier und Violine präsentieren Renaud Capuçon und Kit Armstrong die Brillanz von Mozarts Kammermusik. Renaud Capuçon beschreibt die musikalische Beziehung mit Kit Armstrong als "wirklich inspirierend. Alles funktioniert auf völlig unkomplizierte und natürliche Weise. Und nachdem wir diese Sonaten in Salzburg gespielt hatten, wussten wir sofort, dass wir sie aufnehmen wollten. Diese Stücke mit Kit aufzuführen, bedeutet, sich auf eine wunderbare musikalische Reise zu begeben.

After 10 years of classical piano, I attend a jazz-­‐fusion music school “Centre Musical Créatif de Nancy” (Nancy, France) where I graduated with “unanimous special distinction with jury honors” in 1991. Live musician for jazz and world music bands, I join Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA) for Jazz Performance, Film Scoring and Jazz Composition (Herb Pomeroy) heading to composition and orchestral conducting. From this period, many compositions and recording including the music bound for the ballet “Trois Profils Pour Une Danse” or the commissioned symphonic piece in commemoration of the 26th centennial of the city of Marseille “La fabuleuse histoire de Marseille…” in 1999.

Beginning with rather-neglected, recently-recorded gems (the Violin Concerto, Violin Sonata, Piano Quartet, and Daphne-Etude) the release continues by showcasing superb concerts from Capuçon’s past.

String ensemble arrangements of Metamorphosen and the introduction to Cappricco – performed alongside decorated colleagues – are followed by a climactic rendition of Ein Heldenleben by Seiji Ozawa and the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester.

During the first lockdown in France, Renaud Capuçon played a new piece every day to lift the spirits of his fans on social media, accompanied by pianist Guillaume Bellom from their respective homes - they received an enthusiastic response.

"While avoiding the more gimmicky extremes [in The Four Seasons], there is no lack of character as soloist or conductor from Renaud Capuçon…These galant style pieces [by Chevalier de Saint-Georges] are just as virtuosic as the Italian’s, but emphasising elegant joie-de-vivre more than drama.

“Si conociera las palabras adecuadas, sería escritor y no músico”, explica Renaud García-Fons en el documental Beyond de Double Bass y en un ejercicio de coherencia suprema, es prácticamente la única frase que dice. La cinta, de Nicolas Dattilesi, muestra al genio del doble contrabajo visto por su lutier, por músicos y periodistas. Nada de lo que explican sorprende después de haberlo observado en silencio por los pasillos del hotel donde se ha hospedado junto al resto de músicos que han participado en la Bienal de Países Bajos. Siempre pensativo y callado, sólo rompe su silencio para sonreír abierta y tímidamente a todo ser humano con el que se cruza.
