Superman Man

is a 9-part crossover storyline that appeared in DC Comics' then-ongoing Superman titles from September to October 2000, and written and drawn by many established names in comics, among them Jeph Loeb, J.M. DeMatteis, Mark Schultz, Joe Kelly, Ed McGuinness, Mike Miller, Doug Mahnke, Kano, etc. It is actually composed of two 4-part sub-storylines, "Superman: Arkham" followed by "Superman: The Reign of Emperor Joker", connected in the middle by the one-shot special titled , which is also the title of the collected issues released as a trade paperback much later in January 2007. The storyline in essence is this: Batman's archenemy The Joker is accidentally given nigh-unlimited reality-shaping powers by that imp from the 5th dimension, Mr. Mxyzptlk, and he reshapes the universe in his image which then becomes topsy-turvy to say the least; so it's up to Earth's greatest, and most confused heroes to stop him before he destroys all of existence.

Gil Kane, one of the most influential and dynamic artists in comics, made his name with his 1960s work on GREEN LANTERN and THE ATOM. After working at Marvel Comics in the 1970s on titles including The Amazing Spider-Man, Conan and more, Kaneshifted to animation, where he served as a character designer on the 1988 Superman animated TV series. He returned to DC in the 1980s to illustrate the adventures of Superman. Kane's dynamic artwork shined on titles like ACTION COMICS, SUPERMAN and others, where he drew not only The Man of Steel and his supporting cast but also numerous guest stars including The Flash, The Atom, the Teen Titans, Hawkman and Animal Man.

This is the sequel to 1995's three-issue crossover: the four-issue crossover mini-series, in which Superman and the New Gods find themselves face to face once more with one of the most terrifying species in the universe. A doomed ship carrying the Alien brood has found its way into the domain of Darkseid who'll use them as the ultimate biological weapon, infesting his own minions and unleashing them on the peaceful citizens of New Genesis. The Man of Steel must once again battle the Aliens to stop them from spreading across the galaxy. As with its predecessor, another pretty good crossover, with the caveat that it is not considered canon as far as the license owners of the series Aliens vs. Predators are concerned.
