The Hishakaku Quartet’s new album The First Proxy is out now on Earshift Music with launch dates in Melbourne and the 2018 Wangaratta International Jazz Festival. Comprised of 2017 Australian Jazz Award winner and runner up, trombonist James Macaulay and trumpeter Niran Dasika, the chord-less quartet features inspired original compositions from the ensemble, synergetic interplay between the two front line and confluent support from Australian-Japanese rhythm section of Marty Holoubek and drummer Shun Ishiwaka.

On the Brink is a collection of 20 previously uncomped and absolutely superb UK instrumentals from the '60s and early '70s, assembled by legendary psych musician and Psychic Circle label-head, Nick Saloman (The Bevis Frond). Presenting session men discovering sitars, orchestras getting into the freaky side of things, hip theme tunes, Hammonds, fuzz and brass. Somehow sophisticated and cheesy simultaneously, these acts created their own musical world of Chelsea apartments, mini-mokes, dark velvet bespoke tailoring and the dolliest birds this side of Battersea Bridge. The "Blade Runner 20th Anniversary Edition", out in 2002 and most likely not by the same person responsible for the original "Blade Runner Off World Edition" as stated on the CD, was a mixture of the "Off World Edition" bootleg and the official 1994 edition of the soundtrack without taking into account the huge difference in quality between the sources. On The 29th Anniversary all that could be done was done to even out the differences even if the makers would not count on "near perfect" quality for this 29th Anniversary version.
