The Bolshoi may be one of the best alternative bands that you never heard. All the old faves are here and a few obscure and brilliant b-sides. But the most exciting thing is the 2 new tracks from Trevors solo album. "Master of the world" and "Mary" are sheer genius. As good as The Bolshoi material, they show Trevor has lost none of his infamous edge. At last the original "Dark Lord" returns to show his imitators how it's done. The Best of The Bolshoi is a real triumph.
Some years ago Austrian radio ORF started a series of recordings with polyphony from the renaissance on its own label. The ensemble The Sound and the Fury has recorded music by well-known masters like Nicolas Gombert, Pierre de la Rue and Johannes Ockeghem. But they have also paid attention to some forgotten composers of the 15th century. One of them is Guillaume Faugues. As so often there is quite a difference between his reputation in his own time and in modern times. It is very likely nothing of his oeuvre has ever been recorded before.
Whiskey is a 1977 LP re-issue of the 1974 album Way Down Yonder. Presumably, the album was re-named and marketed in 1977 to capitalize on the popularity of the country rock and outlaw country genres. Whiskey, however, quickly disappeared into obscurity only to re-surface as a long overdue CD reissue on the outstanding Wounded Bird Records in 2008. Because of these circumstances and its long absence from print, Whiskey is somewhat of a "lost" Charle Daniels Band album.
Import pressing of this limited edition CD/DVD (PAL/Region 0) package is expanded to add approximately 40 minutes of video content, including a new Mega-Mix music video for "Kill The King", edited from past music videos and behind the scenes footage, seven previously unreleased live performances from the band's 1999 Risk tour, and a preview for the Arsenal Of Megadeth double DVD set.
