Trio His

There is something timeless in the performance of a jazz ballad. By nature, they are very open to unique interpretation. Drummer Tony Moreno inherited an appreciation for ballads from his mother, a professional harpist, which eventually led to Moreno regularly performing them with his Trio. After twenty years of leading the group, Moreno has compiled some of his mother’s favorites to record with the trio on their debut album, Ballads Volume 1.

Max Reger (1873-1916) was an astonishingly prolific composer, amassing a total of well over a thousand works in a short career. His earliest compositions were lieder and chamber works, and it was the latter genre that inspired Reger to compose his finest music. His mature output reflected both the Baroque revival and modernist tendencies, with two of the most lasting influences upon his style being Brahms and Bach.

Xylem TRIO was established in year 2006 when the three internationally recognized musicians Oskars Petrauskis, Raimonds Petrauskis and Rihards Zalupe came together. Each of them confirmed themselves as soloist and serious chamber musician. The main idea of the Trio is to combine together piano, saxophone and marimba/ percussion. (…) On 2010 Xylem TRIO recorded album “In The Mood Of Giya Kancheli” which received Latvian Music Records Award 2010 in the category Best instrumental, film or theatre album and Best Debut.

The first recording by the Delta Piano Trio on Challenge Classics. The Trio have chosen works by Frank Martin, Tigran Mansurian and Antonin Dvorak which span almost a century, are from very different cultures, but which are all based on folk tunes.
