Anne-Sophie Mutter is widely regarded as one of the greatest violinists of modern times, combining technical virtuosity, beauty of tone, and exceptional charisma. She has nurtured the classical music scene through her own Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation, which has commissioned new works and fostered the careers of younger violinists. Mutter was born in the German town of Rheinfelden, near the Swiss border, on June 29, 1963. She took up the piano at five, and the violin shortly after. By nine she was advancing rapidly and had begun lessons with Aïda Stucki. Mutter appeared in recital at the Lucerne Festival when she was 13 and was heard there by legendary conductor Herbert von Karajan.

In the Year of the Dragon 2024, pianist Lang Lang celebrates his Chinese heritage with the release of a special digital edition of all his recordings of Chinese works. The album, entitled Year of the Dragon – Songs from China, features a wealth of solo pieces as well as ensemble and orchestral works, in which Lang Lang is joined by an array of other world-renowned artists. These include tenor Andrea Bocelli and soprano Lei Jia, the China Philharmonic Orchestra and Long Yu, the Shanghai Opera House Chorus, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Tan Dun, and the Prague Symphony Orchestra and Alexandre Desplat.
The album’s 50 tracks span the complete original Dragon Songs album, Tan Dun’s Eight Memories in Watercolour, the Yellow River Concerto, River Waltz, as well as popular tracks from Piano Book. Further, the album includes two brand new recordings – Snowflakes and Moon is Bright Lullaby.

I Am Shee: Original Recordings, 1979-1987 is a musical anthology and image capsule surveying the work of New York vocalist, composer, and visual artist Amy Sheffer. From the late 60 to early 90s, Sheffer wrote, recorded, and privately pressed a series of albums defined by her full-hearted, full-on vibrato vocals and an imaginative scenery set by various loft jazz ensembles. Freedom to Spend’s collection features selections from Sheffer’s Sanctuary Mine, Where’s Your Home?, and We’um, along with a print companion of album ephemera, photo documentation, poetry, and hallucinogenic drawings. After several albums of Western classical music, Chinese pianist Lang Lang returns to the music of his native country on Dragon Songs (…) The 63-minute CD is accompanied by a lengthy DVD that includes a 45-minute documentary of Lang's return visit to China for master classes, concerts, and even a little time with his family at "home" (an apartment he says he has slept in twice). There are also video performances of the all of the album's tracks, each one prefaced by introductory remarks by the pianist. Just as "Yellow River Piano Concerto" began the CD, it ends the DVD in a mammoth performance in Guangzhou with four orchestras combined and 100 female piano players, all spread out in a space that looks larger than a football field.
