To round out this 3-CD set, the final disc contains the original album presentation featuring Silvestri's unique edits and assemblies including some dialog omitted from the complete presentation on the first two discs.
This special edition of the 1976 album will contain new Steven Wilson stereo remixes on CD 1, although this is of the version of the album re-recorded for a TV Special. Only five multi-track master tapes for the actual album could be located and new stereo remixes of those tracks are also appended on the first disc. The second CD consists of a complete flat transfer of the original stereo mix, and eight bonus tracks (seven of which are 2015 remixes). This bonus material includes two unheard songs: Salamander’s Ragtime (not related to album track Salamander), and Commercial Traveller. A third outtake Advertising Man was planned to be included but was not sufficiently complete to merit inclusion.
Knockout Alan Silvestri soundtrack gets royal treatment! Smash-hit Touchstone Pictures & Steven Spielberg presentation finds Robert Zemeckis blending live action, animation in masterful ground-breaking fashion. Mammoth Silvestri score itself runs nearly 100 minutes across discs 1 & 2, with numerous alternates following on CD 2. Also appearing are four complete “Cartoon Short” scores featuring Roger Rabbit that appeared in front of subsequent Disney films: Premiere of complete Silvestri score for opening “Maroon Cartoon” plus dizzying Bruce Broughton scores for Rollercoaster Rabbit (1990) and Trail Mix-Up (1993) with James Horner score for Tummy Trouble (1989) bringing CD 2 to a close. CD 3 presents original 1988 Disney soundtrack album, preserving Silvestri’s own 46-minute presentation balancing score highlights with songs. Entire release newly mastered from Disney vault elements and presented courtesy of Disney Enterprises and Amblin Entertainment.
