Synopsis: Quand Yves-Marie, 9 ans, demande à Jacqueline, qui a son âge : « Epouse-moi », elle répond par une pirouette : «Le jour où tu vas dans les étoiles, je te donne ma main.» 24 ans plus tard, quand Yves-Marie, devenu cosmonaute, vient sonner à la porte de Jacqueline, celle-ci s’apprête à épouser Vincent. Elle a tout oublié de sa promesse. Alors Yves-Marie a une idée : «Essaye-moi une journée avant de dire non!»

The focus for Martin Frutiger’s third album of works for cor anglais and piano is on romantic-impressionist French music, with works by Koechlin and Bozza, but also first recordings of the Quatre Pièces by Clémence de Grandval, a Saint-Saëns student and romantic virtuoso. There are also works by the legendary French oboe teacher Gustave Vogt and his students together with a few rarities from Florent Schmitt, François Rasse, Edouard Barat and others. This means that the entire European, romantic original repertoire for cor anglais and piano are covered in a trilogy of albums on Guild. Martin Frutiger was born in Bern and studied with Professor Hans Elhorst at the Bern University of the Arts. He continued his oboe studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich in the master class of Professor Günther Passin. From 2001 to 2003 he played in the Orchester-Akademie of the Berliner Philharmoniker. Since 2004, he has been principal cor anglais player with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich.

As head of Parlophone, determined to explode the label onto the scene, he sought artists of character; taking mobile recording units out to capture Flanders And Swann's two-man show and the irreverent satirical revue, Beyond The Fringe. The Top Five was breached in 1960 both by Matt Monro and by Peter Sellers And Sophia Loren. George Martin's first UK Number One single, and an exemplar, was 'You're Driving Me Crazy' by The Temperance Seven who combined a revival of popular music from the 20s with styles from the Edwardian era.

We owe this very first recording of that score to the collaboration of the Norwegian Music Festival Barokkfest and the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles. Premiered just a few months before the French Revolution, and fallen into oblivion since, Raoul Barbe-bleue is an unclassifiable "opéra comique", whose musical and dramatic implications are such remarkable that it even inspired Offenbach.
