One of their rare vinyl releases. They found that "lack of promotion kept this album out of reach." I found that it had 20 or 30 defects on the left channel, but I could repair them with Adobe Audition easily. In my opinion the reason is not a scratched record or a bad pressing, but a bad master tape, this may be the reason why the record company stopped the sales. So if you want to buy the record, better check it before you catch it.

On Crossfire the band extend their reggae style further than other Jamaican bands, using keyboards, samples, and moving into the fields of dancehall, soul, rock and electronic music. This makes them very successful when playing their famous concerts, but it's hardly accepted by reggae purists, limiting the sales of this studio recording on their home market, Jamaica.

In the early 1970s the island of Jamaica, and in particular its reggae musicians, developed a love affair with small Japanese motor bikes. Honda bikes were eulogised in Big Youth’s ‘S90 Skank’ and Dillinger’s ‘CB200’, whilst their rival was lauded on Shorty The President’s ‘Yamaha Skank’, to name the most obvious examples. The plot of the film ‘Rockers’ revolved around how transformative a motorbike could be, providing a livelihood whilst projecting an image of success in the ghetto. Vivian ‘Yabby You’ Jackson had been fiercely independent as a singer and producer, and the success of his early self-pressed productions, mostly on the Prophets or Vivian Jackson labels, had given him a sense of hard earned autonomy.

The latest 'Looking' set travels from uptempo R&B and Early Soul to Garage Punk, Northern, Frat Rock, Proto-Psych and wild instro's. Looking Stateside goes back to the roots of the Mod scene on Disc 1. From the opening bars of Georgia Lynn's 'Sugar Shack Queen', these are the sounds you might have heard down at The Scene Club in London's Ham Yard (had Guy Stevens or other DJs have owned these tunes on import). Willie Jones is still treading the boards to this day; indeed, he issued a new album on RPM's sister label Shout a couple of years back.
