Sweden - a country largely politicised during the late sixties - took it's first steps towards creating it's own music and its own cultural language during the late sixties with bands like Hansson & Karlsson, Mecki Mark Men, Lea Riders Group and others. Out of the latter (featuring Bosse Häggström on Bass and Tommy "Slim" Borgudd on drums), Made in Sweden evolved together with Georg "Jojje" Wadenius as a instrumentally talented trio. His influence, though not immediately apparent, was a major factor in the development of Texan honky-tonk country music. That influence permeated to a host of subsequent artists ranging from Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson, through Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison, to George Strait and Randy Travis.

Ry Cooder is not frequently considered a prolific recording artist, yet he has amassed a sizeable catalog of original albums and film scores over the decades. He has also participated in some truly and even historic projects from the 1960s on, including the Rising Sons with Taj Mahal, the Gabby Pahinui Hawaiian Band, Little Village, and the Buena Vista Social Club. This box collects in encyclopedic fashion Cooder's solo records for Warner beginning with his self-titled debut album and continues through his final album for the label proper, the brief yet classic Get Rhythm.
