The ARIA Engine is a 64-bit audio sampling and synthesis Engine, developed by Plogue Art et Technologie Inc in collaboration with Garritan Corp now part of MakeMusic, Inc. It is based on the SFZ 1.0 / SFZ 2.0 open file formats for instrument programming and the Scala open file format to define scales and temperaments. The first software instrument in the ARIA engine was the Garritan Authorized Steinway Virtual Model D Piano Library, endorsed by and in cooperation with Steinway & Sons. Today, the ARIA Engine can be found in various software from Garritan, Plogue, AKAI, Sony, Microsoft and MakeMusic.

Winner of the 2016 Cleveland International Piano Competition, Nikita Mndoyants debuts here on the Steinway Label with an electric program. His performances are “flawlessly paced, beautifully detailed and emotionally powerful” (Dallas Morning News). Coming from a family of professional musicians, Nikita Mndoyants began to play piano and compose music at a very young age. He entered Central Music School in Moscow, where he studied piano with Tamara Koloss. He gave his first public recital at age eight, and recorded his first album at age ten. Since 2013 he has been a professor of orchestration at the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory. As a composer, he received first prize at the 2014 Myaskovsky International Competition of Composers and the 2016 Prokofiev International Competition of Composers.

Alexandre Moutouzkine debuts on the Steinway label with a collection of rarely heard works of Cuba, most of which have never been recorded. The artistry and sensitivity of Alexandre Moutouzkine interpreting Cuban music truly made magic. Everything was perfection. Radio Musical Nacional (Havana)

Brian Thornton, acclaimed cello soloist and distinguished member of the Cleveland Orchestra, collaborates with Steinway Artist Spencer Myer on a fabulous new recording of the great Sonatas for Cello and Piano by Johannes Brahms. Brian Thornton is a musician of many interests. As a cellist and a conductor he has performed in hundreds of venues across the globe, from The White House in Washington DC to the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China.

Changyong Shin, the gifted winner of the 2016 Hilton Head International Competition, debuts on the Steinway Label with a shimmering program that highlights his passionate musicianship and astounding technique. Twenty-one year old Korean pianist Chang-Yong Shin is the winner of many competitions around the world. He has performed in prestigious venues, including two solo recitals and a chamber concert at Kumho Art Hall, a “Young Mozart Concert” at The Mozart Hall, and more. Until 2011, he studied with Choong-Mo Kang at The Juilliard School and Ms. Mari Kwon, a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, at the Dankook University in Korea. Since then, he has been studying with Robert McDonald at the Curtis Institute of Music. Mr. Shin will pursue a Masters degree at The Juilliard School beginning in September, 2016, also under the tutelage of Robert McDonald.
