Passionate, inspired performances and brilliant technique are the hallmark of pianist ChangYong Shin. He brings those qualities to meditative yet virtuosic works by Beethoven, Liszt and Chopin. With performances in South Korea, Italy, France, the UK, and across the United States, and a growing reputation for compelling interpretations, Mr. Shin is developing an international career as a soloist and chamber musician. Mr. Shin released his debut album on the Steinway & Sons label in January 2018.

Cellist Brian Thornton is joined by pianist Spencer Myer and clarinetist Afendi Yusuf in a program of chamber music on the Steinway & Sons label. An impeccable performance of Debussy’s striking Cello Sonata is followed by the lovely Clarinet Trio by Brahms. Brian Thornton is a multi-faceted musician who has touched the lives of thousands of people through musical outreach programs around the world. Mr. Thornton began playing the cello in the public school system of Chicago, giving him a passion for teaching young musicians and public school outreach programs.

At 9', the Steinway D is considered by many the pinnacle of pianos. The instrument we sampled is equipped with a custom system for re-performance, developed by Zenph. That's how we recorded our samples so precisely!

Steinway & Sons releases Classical Gershwin (STNS 30132) from pianist Katie Mahan. This album highlights the work of iconic American composer, George Gershwin through a set of classically conceived arrangements of his most beloved songs. These arrangements by pianists Katie Mahan and Earl Wild favor the classical style rather than the improvisatory style we so often hear.

Andrew Rangell, who has previously recorded J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Eastern European folk music for the Steinway & Sons label, now turns his attention to composers of the early 20th century for his latest album release.

On May 3, 2024 STEINWAY& SONS releases Liszt: Transcendental Etudes / Sandro Russo (STNS 30233). As Mr. Russo writes in his liner notes, the Transcendental Etudes embody some of the most significant traits of Liszt’s prolific “Weimar” period: the quest for new aesthetics of sound; an evident simplification of textures (as suggested by Schumann); and a stronger-than-ever penchant for programmatic elements derived from literature, nature, and the visual arts. Liszt also brought a new, truly poetic dimension to these Etudes by adding highly evocative titles to ten of them.
