It is an album that shows her wonderful vocal diversity, ranging from Cuban styles to African qualities to American jazz to Afrobeat and beyond, sung primarily in Swahili due to her Kenyan roots but occasionally in English, as she does in the title track. Jungle by Night consists of nine young lads from Amsterdam who use their musical upbringing, taste, backgrounds and unstoppable eagerness to produce a unique blend of musical styles.,. The nine souls in Jungle by Night were acquainted through school, street and family bonds. A couple of years ago, the group seemed to be infected with a love for raw Africa oriented funk and retreated into the rehearsal studio. The band was invited to perform as the opening act at concerts of Mayer Hawthorne and The Roots & John Legend. They were guests in Paris at shows of musical godfathers Mulatu Astatke and Orchestre Poly-Ritmo de Cotonou and invited Seun Kuti and Tony Allen to their own Felabration festival in Amsterdam!

2017 release. Tanzania's Msafiri Zawose has been one of the biggest slept-on musical forces from the region. That's about to change with the imminent arrival of an album that will redefine the boundaries of gogo music. The Wagogo people are Msafiri's traditionally nomadic tribe from the center of the Tanzania, known for their musicality and made famous by Hukwe Zawose - Msafiri's father, who toured the world as a part of Peter Gabriel's Real World roster in the 80s and 90s. The album has been produced in collaboration with Sam Jones from SoundThread, whose recent works with Orlando Julius and remixes for Mugwisa International and Sarabi have been rapturously received. The tracks remain profoundly 'gogo' with traditional instruments and singing, but are infused with an organic electronic aesthetic. This is an afro-futurist journey that takes in dub, balearic, ambient and electronic vibrations alongside Zawose's hypnotic playing and emotive, plaintive vocals.

Bosco has been a legend ever since acoustic guitarists discovered the instrumental version of his 1952 "Masanga." Though he recorded 150 sides in the following decade, almost nothing is available except these 1988 studio sides, which trade the mellowness of middle-age for youthful zip without losing any of their charm. Groundtruther is not a band, actually, but a project created by guitarist/composer Charlie Hunter and drummer, composer, and electronics maestro Bobby Previte. There will be three albums in the Groundtruther catalog when it's all done, of which Latitude is the first – Longitude and Altitude are the other titles in the series. In addition to the duo, each album will play host to a different guest instrumentalist, making each album a trio offering. On Latitude, it is saxophonist Greg Osby.
