After the inter-title, crossover event, Marvel Comics' entire Ultimate imprint has been relaunched under the "Ultimate Comics" brand; in my Ultimatum Requiem Compilation (posted in Avaxhome by yours truly), is this brand's very first title to be released. With Eisner Award-winner Brian Michael Bendis on board to set the tone and guide the title to newer and bolder directions, apparently all the recent efforts have come to fruition. There's more balance in the presentation and portrayal of Peter Parker's dichotomous life, the characters are more believable and cast interaction is livelier than ever. As with other current Spider-Man titles, notably , there's genuine added depth to the villains, unlike before where they are at most two-dimensional gloating punching bags for Spidey. An interesting and strong series.

Joe Kelly, winner of IGN's Writer of the Year Award for 2009 shows it's no fluke with his rendition of Rhino in the Gauntlet, the current storyline that reboots or reinvents Spidey's Classic Rogues' gallery. Rhino is given a such depth of character in a manner so simple in an approach so different from what previous Gauntlet writers Fred Van Lente (with the Sandman) and Mark Waid (with Electro) did. Yet, it is in a manner so perfectly clicking into place that this by far is the best. Not only that, the main and backup stories mesh together to form a seamless background and understanding of how Aleksei Sytsevich ceased to be the Rhino and became a normal human being. Great artwork by Max Fiumara and Javier Pulido. The highpoint for me is when Spider-Man talks to Aleksei with heartfelt sincerity to just go on living as he should. I believe Kelly is making a point to Marvel editors and all those corporate bigwigs to try and shake them loose from their "big event"-driven "crossover" mindsets, and simply bring the game home. I do hope they listen.

Spider-Man first appeared in the comic book Amazing Fantasy #15 (Aug. 1962). The series was canceled with that issue, but response to the character was so positive that a solo title, The Amazing Spider-Man, was launched with a March 1963 cover-date. The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist and co-plotter Steve Ditko, and the pair produced 38 issues from 1963 to 1966. The title is the character's flagship series. Most of the major characters and villains of the Spider-Man saga have been introduced here, and it is where key events occur. The title was published continuously until 1998 when Marvel Comics relaunched it with a new issue #1 (Jan. 1999), but on Spider-Man's 40th anniversary, this new title reverted to using the numbering of the original series, beginning again with issue #500 (Dec. 2003).

From its second issue the brand reverted to the original title (so can we now refer to it as "Volume 2?"). It's still "The New World According to Peter Parker" (read that, Day-to-Day in the life of...). One thing, though: is it just me or has anyone noticed that Marvel's solicitations have been getting more and more sloppy ever since Disney bought it?

or a was a major story arc in Marvel Comics which ran from 1994 to 1996 involving many clones of Spider-Man. The story is considered within fandom to be one of the most controversial stories ever told for Spider-Man if not in the comics industry as a whole. The story was intended to wrap up in less than a year. However, the comics sold very well and the writers were encouraged to prolong the saga as long as possible. This led to some changes to the storyline that ultimately proved unpopular. That's what happens when creativity and creative freedom is thrown out the window because of greed. is the new six-part mini-series based on the outline of the original Clone Saga. Written by Tom DeFalco and Howard Mackie, and drawn by Todd Nauck, this "writer's cut" mini-series will explore the story as it was originally conceived, and will feature the original conclusion while focusing on the basics of the original saga.
