Ganja Beats present their second album on Organic Records, a psychedelic dub infusion of dubbalicious tracks which mix trance, dub and space sounds to create a truly great album. The album is a true crossover of psytrance and dub to chill you out but enable you to elevate into space and keep those feet tapping. It moves easily through the classic 'Herb is Good' to the pure chill of 'Deep Tranquility'. Light a spliff and 'Space is High'. This album shows Jake at his finest, its sound goes back a lot further than many of today's chillout artists with clear nods to Lee Scratch Perry, King Tubby and 80s UK electro dubber Adrian Sherwood, as well as Ambient greats like The Orb…
Without doubt, the recordings of Tangerine Dream have made the greatest impact on the widest variety of instrumental music during the 1980s and '90s, ranging from the most atmospheric new age and space music to the harshest abrasions of electronic dance. Founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese in Berlin, the group has progressed through a full three dozen lineups (Froese being the only continuous member with staying power) and four distinct stages of development: the experimentalist minimalism of the late '60s and early '70s; stark sequencer trance during the mid- to late '70s, the group's most influential period
Norwegian composer/producer Oystein Ramfjord's Amethystium is an adventure in modern electronic music (of the non-dance variety). Much in the vein of the Orb and Enigma, Isabliss strides the divisions between new age meditation, ambient dreaminess, and pop/rock grooves. Unlike some other electronica projects, Amethystium is also slightly more based in rock (i.e., the occasional sweeping guitar solo or steady pulsing rhythm). But the dreamy, surreal Isabliss ultimately lives up to the wordplay in its title.
Pulse (stylised as p·u·l·s·e) is a live double album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, released through EMI Records on 29 May 1995 in the United Kingdom and by Columbia Records on 6 June 1995 in the United States. The album was recorded during the band's Division Bell Tour in 1994, specifically the UK and European leg, which ran from July to October 1994.
ESCM (Electric Sky Church Music) is the second album by BT, released in 1997. Following Ima, Transeau branched out to create club anthems such as "Flaming June", while also drawing inspiration from drum and bass as well as hip hop. ESCM also features Transeau adding live guitar, bass and drums to songs, as well as the use of a strings ensemble.
Lounge music is a type of easy listening music popular in the 1950s and 1960s. It may be meant to evoke in the listeners the feeling of being in a place, usually with a tranquil theme, such as a jungle, an island paradise or outer space. The range of lounge music encompasses beautiful music-influenced instrumentals, modern electronica (with chillout, and downtempo influences), while remaining thematically focused on its retro-space-age cultural elements.
Mojo Presents David Gilmour & Friends. Some three years ago, David Gilmour very kindly sent Mojo a cover version of The Beatles’ "Here, There And Everywhere". After a spot of cajoling he’s finally agreed to let include it on the free CD that comes with this edition of Mojo (October 15 / #263). "I really wish I had been in The Beatles," Gilmour tells Mojo of the genesis behind his cover. "They taught me how to play guitar, I learnt everything. The bass parts, the lead, the rhythm, everything. They were fantastic." That love is manifested on the wonderful harmony-filled cover of the 1966 Revolver original recorded with his son Joe. Previously unreleased anywhere. A number of Gilmour’s closest collaborators appear on this compilation while the guitarist is featured on six of the tracks himself, including songs from Phil Manzanera, Robert Wyatt and The Pretty Things.
