The instrumental trio The Three Suns had been around for about two decades, capturing fans as far-ranging as First Lady Mamie Eisenhower and the Platters (who took their Twilight Time to the top of the charts), when they cut this record for RCA s famed Living Stereo series in 1959. And, no doubt inspired by the new-fangled recording technology in RCA s Studio A, they turned in one of the most wacky and entertaining Christmas albums of the era, adding rock and roll guitar and instrumentation as varied as chimes, bells, oboes and two (!) tubas to create a Space Age stereophonic spectacular suitable for the Jetsons next holiday party. This record s long been cherished by Christmas music devotees, and our Real Gone worldwide CD debut reissue features a sparkling remastering job by Maria Triana at Sony s Battery Studios and liner notes by Joe Marchese. Alicia de Larrocha's greatest contribution as a musician was her unrivaled advocacy of Spanish and Catalonian piano music. Her interpretations of the music of Albéniz, Granados, Falla, Mompou (a lifelong friend who dedicated several works to her), and Montsalvatge were universally described as brilliant, authentic, and masterful in tonal color, texture, and rhythm. She was also highly regarded for her recordings of Mozart and French Impressionist music. She began her career before the age of six with a solo recital, followed by her orchestral debut at the age of 11 performing Mozart's "Coronation" Concerto (K. 537) with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid. She studied with Frank Marshall at his Academia Marshall and also studied music theory with Ricardo Lamote de Gignon. Her adult career began in 1940, but she did not make any international tours until 1947, when she first toured Europe.

Piano virtuoso Aldo Ciccolini passed away at the age of 89 in his home in Paris, France, in February 2015. Born in Naples in 1925, he entered the Naples Conservatory at the age of 9, where he studied piano and composition, debuted with Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 at the age of 17, and at the age of 22 became the youngest professor at his alma mater. After that, at the age of 24, he won the Long-Thibaud International Competition and moved to Paris, eventually becoming a French citizen and active for many years as a renowned pianist representing the French music world. After becoming a professor at the Paris Conservatory at the age of 46, his activities became more international, and he visited Japan many times.Ciccolini was an interpreter and advocate of "modern French music," and also devoted himself to mentoring the next generation of musicians. This album not only contains that music, but also 115 tracks of piano masterpieces from a wide range of repertoire, including Chopin, Bach, Brahms, Prokofiev, and Rachmaninoff, totaling 6 hours and 25 minutes.

Led by Scott Boyer and Tommy Talton, the Jacksonville band Cowboy was discovered by none other than Duane Allman, who, as legend has it, banged on their door at 7 am one day and asked to hear some songs. He then recommended them to Capricorn label owner Phil Walden, who sent Allman Brothers producer Johnny Sandlin to check them out; Sandlin ended up producing several Cowboy albums for Capricorn, of which this 1971 release was the second. The Allman Brothers connection on this album is even more explicit than it was on their debut album (Reach for the Sky, also reissued by Real Gone Music); Allman plays guitar on Lookin for You and dobro on Please Be with Me, while ABB keyboardist Chuck Leavell appears on half of the album tracks. But what makes 5 ll Getcha Ten special and indeed what makes it many Cowboy fans favorite record is the songwriting. Please Be with Me was covered by Eric Clapton on his classic 461 Ocean Boulevard release, and throughout the album a gentle undercurrent of spirituality courses through these beautifully played and sung songs, particularly on What I Want Is You, Innocence Song and the title tune.
