At Phoenix Progressive School, where everyone tries to outdo each other with creative self-expression, 16-year-old Molly Maxwell (Lola Tash) would rather be invisible than risk revealing herself as completely ordinary. When her young, handsome, disillusioned English teacher (Charlie Carrick) enters the picture and allows her to just be herself, Molly is suddenly able to flourish. As their student-teacher bond becomes more intimate, she begins putting herself on the line in unexpected ways while pursuing what she wants. But with each awkward, beautiful step towards an impossible romance, Molly risks alienating everyone she loves.

On "Like a Lover," two of Venus Records' most popular jazz musicians got together for an excellent duo album. New York-based Australian singer/bassist Nicki Parrott and clarinet/tenor sax player Ken Peplowski are chief voices of their craftt. Both musicians bring something new to the music on this album thanks to their inventiveness. It's easy to see that Parrott and Peplowski's characteristics are superbly matched. The album is a collection of outstanding love songs that consist of mostly standards along with a few Lennon/McCartney tracks.

Verve Remixed is a series of compilations where material from the Verve vaults were remixed by modern producers. Verve Unmixed 2 is a companion piece to Verve Remixed 2, the second volume in the series and "unmixed" means the original versions of the songs.

Beth Goldwater is an award winning singer-songwriter who both grew up and settled down in the Philadelphia area. Her new album of Jazz Standards called Vintage is now available and a natural continuation of the work she did in Seduisánte.
Beth began her songwriting career in college and her performing career as the front woman for a local rock band that opened for both Cinderella and The Black Crowes. After learning much about head scarves and leather clothes, Beth started a family. She recently returned to the music scene solo and has since played from The House of Blues, Hollywood, to The Blue Moon, Seattle, to Chris's Jazz Cafe, Philadelphia and to World Cafe Live, Wilmington where she opened for Suzanne Vega.

Irene and Her Latin Jazz Band interpret 14 familiar songs though this project, capturing the essence of Rio de Janeiro in happy times. Their's is a lightweight treatment that lets singer and band stroll effortlessly around seasonal flower beds and through leisure-time celebrations. When it's summer in Rio, a part of the world is freezing; however, Irene ensures that tensions relax and attitudes lighten up.
